Total or partial

I seen the surgeon yesterday. I was thinking when I went in that he would think partial resection was enough but cause of my age (39) he said he rather do a full removal of my colon and attach the small intestine to my rectum. This might prevent more surgery in the future if at some point it returns.

I don’t know what I think can anyone give me some insight on if you have had total or partial.

I am also getting a second opinion cause I have low platelets and cirrhosis so it’s being done in the major city here which will mean a different dr and he might have another plan

Wow seems dramatic!!!!!
I've had all of my rectum ( pretty much) removed, and have just had my reversal ( writing from hospital bed)
It can b done and reconnected, but it's only then you will know if u will have any problems with it!!

Once it’s gone, it’s gone. It seems drastic to take the whole colon. I had a second resection and chose to preserve as much colon as possible. I have about a third of my colon. My grandfather had a total colectomy and had a lot of issues.
