Hi!!

I'm currently snuggling baby #8, Nicholas Reed. He brings the tally to 3 boys, 5 girls. We were in dire need of some testosterone in our house. 7.2 pounds, 21.25 inches long. He's the spitting image of my husband. I'm so smitten, it's not even funny.

I had him a week ago Friday, 3/15 after 2.5 total hours of labor. That was it!! His was by far the easiest pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery. Cancer included. I'm already at my pre pregnancy weight at 11 days post partum.

He's nursing really well, I'm pumping like a dairy cow. Will have to swap from breast to formula as soon as I start treatment. We see his doctor this Friday for routine 2 week checkup, then I see my oncologist next Wednesday to get an idea of what is happening when. I *think* I get to wait until he's 6 weeks old before everything starts, but not positive since I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery.

Thanks for thinking of me!! I keep checking in and leaving a tab open on my phone and then get distracted...

Our oldest is 20, followed by 19, 17, 14, 9, 4 and 2. The 19 year old recently joined the Navy and is stationed in Hawaii. He's realized how much he misses his mommy on a daily basis! The 20 year old still lives at home and is a total mommy's girl. Just like all the rest of them!!

I'm so unbelievably lucky.

Can you pump and freeze some of your milk now? I understand he is a newborn requiring feeding every few hours, but is it possible to to pump some right after feeding and freeze that?

Yup! Trying to build up a freezer stash in the next few weeks. I nursed all my babies at least a year, some a little longer. So the thought of swapping to formula and bottle feeding is outside of my skillset! But, in the long run he needs his mommy cancer free more than he needs to be exclusively breastfed. We'll figure it out!
