Sunnybrook vs Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto

Postby henry123 » Thu Dec 06, 2018 9:04 pm

Hello
Can anyone advise which would be a better option between PMH and Sunnybrook Hospitals in Toronto with regards to CRC.
Any recommendations for medical oncologist who specialises in immunotherapy at these centres.
Thanks.

Only a generic reply here homie

My father's Onc in Kelowna trained and was certified at PMH = a very good place !
She gave me the name of her mentor for chest stuff when I wanted some info for another friend,
and the reference was for standard protocols for thoracic stuff ... not CRC

No experience with Sunnybrook

Hoping you get some good feedback from the family here !
maybe check some older posts by " Maia "
I believe her friend was treated at PMH and she would have posted some good info while she was active here

(( Miss you Maia  ))

Best wishes

Both Sunnybrook and PMH are excellent hospitals.

I can't offer any advice, but PMH claims that it has Canada's most comprehensive immunotherapy program, so may have the edge. https://www.thepmcf.ca/Our-Stories/Insi ... py-program

My doctor told me that the best US hospitals are better than the best Canadian hospitals.
So Boston, Cleveland or NY should be better. :(
58 yo male at diagnosis: T1bN0M0, 0/15 nodes, low grade/moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma
03/2016 colonoscopy: 2 small polyps removed in left colon; CEA = 1.3
04/2016 colonoscopy: caecum sessile 3.5 cm polyp piecemeal removed with kind of clear margins
05/2016 "prophylactic" laparoscopic right hemicolectomy - bleeding, leak, infection
06/2017 CT scan, colonoscopy OK; CEA = 1.6
A lot of funny stuff discovered by CT scans in liver, kidney, lungs, arteries, gallbladder, lymph node, pancreas

Both are excellent. I researched clinical trials that were open at both not too long ago and Sunnybrook had the best one for ME at the moment given my mutation. So that’s where I am right now.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Parking at sunnybrook costs more. But if you are doing a trial, research both as they offer different ones.
