Sad news

Postby mhf1986 » Mon Nov 19, 2018 6:55 pm

DH and I decided to take a jaunt to Florida over Halloween week. About half way through, he started feeling badly and very tired. Asked for abdomen drain when we got back and they did 1 lung too. Went in a week later for another lung, wound up with a permanent lung catheter, which was actually pretty easy to drain. Doctors thought they saw a lung infection so there's an extra 3 days in the hospital to attempt to grow stuff but couldn't find anything. Lonsurf schedule really a mess at this point.

He got out of the hospital on 11/13 and never seemed the same. Red spots all over. Slurred speech. They filled him with IV fluid which made his feet swell and crack. He would sleep a lot and was very restless when awake. By Sunday 11/18, things were going downhill fast with the breathing even with the drain and oxygen. I got him comfortable on his roll-away bed and begged hospice to come (they were scheduled to start 11/19) but no luck. Called his sister and uncle. Called on-call oncologist. Neighbor came over and read Bible verses.

My darling DH Jeffrey who was so brave for 2 years at peace 11/19/18 12:25 a.m.

(((Missy)))

Please accept my sympathy on the passing of your dear husband. It sounds like it was quick, sometimes that can be a blessing. A good friend lost her FIL a few weeks back. Cancer, they told him, he had about a year to live with chemo, he died less than 2 weeks later. A lot of what you described.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Again I am so sorry for your loss,
