CRguy, why do you need statins?
Do you see calcified plaques in your coronary arteries (on CT scans)?

CRguy, what is your planned ratio of X-Rays to CT scans?
How often do you have X-Rays and how often CT scans?

This far out I have just gone with annual survey xrays (C-A-P) and full abdominal u/sound,
then move to further imaging as required and C-scope every 3 years.

Bloods are every 3-6 months depending upon what we are looking at and looking FOR !

NO ratio of one versus other.

Those who know me here ... AND my docs know the drill :

" I would rather die from too much radiation ... THAN
a cancer met we missed because we DID NOT LOOK on regular imaging. "

I think they all get my "message" now.

CR....you know me and my pups....nothing was or is out of bounds. Well, I say that and a few weeks ago, my 14 year old (last one) beagle was dxd with transitional cell carcinoma. Small lesion in her vaginal canal that was causing some minor spotting at night (she wears a diaper so as not to tinkle on the floor....amazing as soon as we put it on she doesn't wake up OR potty anywhere!!) was what caused us to seek an opinion. Our vet removed a small piece for a biopsy. Ultrasound didn't show anything else anywhere....he was worried about it spreading to her rectum and or her urethra. The lesion was relatively small....the size of a small pea and seemed to be more of a cyst but path came back as transitional cell. Anyway, episiotomy done two weeks ago to open up the area....vet couldn't find it. Three other vets were there as well....no one could find it?????? We opted out of the CT...simply because she's 14...doesn't appear to be in any distress. Still runs around....particularly for her Greenie. Stitches out....still teeny amount of spotting. Piroxicam started today. This pooch has already had a liver resection for a honking tumor.....April 2016.

Cancer in our pooches is HARD. Remember my beloved Lesley? Salivary Gland carcionoma....two surgeries. Benign (thank goodness) tumors on her spleen. I just HATE it when my furbabies have to suffer.

Glad to hear that your CT is scheduled and you'll hopefully get an ANSWER soon!

++++ thoughts and prayers for your grandpups. I totally understand.....give the pooch a big HUG from my pooch and me!

OK so here's the thing ......

The dog appears to be doing well for a geriatric Bullmastiff !
Got a bunch of labs back, had a consult with the specialist ( great guy BTW !!! )
treating a urinary tract infection, few pain meds and .....
AND ... no real indications of bone tumours !
will follow up with rechecks / reculture and reassess in 2-3 weeks
=>>>> ALL good in grand puppy land !!!

NOW here is my sitrep .....
picked up the Disc and report of my CT scan.
No signs of mets or local / distal recurrences = I am good with that.
No changes in other areas of "note" = BUTT .... NOT concern

SO apparently for the time being ...
" Here I DON'T ... go again "

taking the wins where I get them
Cheers and Harmony homies

Hey CR,
Glad to hear that all is well on BOTH fronts. Always good news when our CT scans come out clean. I take it the lung thingies were of no concern??
Also glad to hear that the pups is doing well.

I'd write more but I am tired. Lots of things to get done today...getting close to Christmas and all!

How is your weather up there? Any snow yet?

Seriously happy to hear that after all this time, NO mets/recurrences....nada is the RIGHT thing to hear!

I'm trying to schedule my 5 year scope....not looking forward to it and a little nervous about what it may/won't show. Physical coming up the end of this month....already stressed about my annual CEA.

You think that you get far enough out and no more worries = WRONG!

Happy for you that everything is good.
Take care,
Jaynee
