Rectal Pain concern / previous rectal cancer

Postby Maelleous » Thu Nov 08, 2018 11:07 am

Hi all,

Been a long while since I have posted. About 2 and half months ago I got my 2 year all clear scan and had been feeling good. For the past couple of weeks I have had some odd pains in my rectum. It feels similar to when I have had hemorrhoid issues and assuming that is most likely the culprit, but it has been a little more noticeable and frequent for the past day or two. I have had no blood, nor any change in bowel movements, so that part isn't alarming. I messaged my GI surgeon about and he told me to schedule an appt and didn't say any more. He isn't one known for his bedside manner, but is one of the best surgeons at Cleveland Clinic.

I did some online searches and it doesn't appear cancer is a typical cause of rectal pain, but curious if anyone has had this from either cancer or hemorrhoids? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I have had some mild pains and what not since the surgery, as I have had a full reconstructed jpouch etc.

I heard sometimes neoadjuvent radiation can cause pain and discomfort in that area even after the removal.
