Almost 6 years

Postby kiwiinoz » Tue Nov 06, 2018 6:16 pm

Hi All
6 years ago I purchased a new house. As part of that purchase my wife insisted I get the persistent bleeding that the doctors kept telling me was due to a myriad of reasons that had me doing tests for 6 months. I was able to get a colonoscopy, woke up to find out I had cancer, did a ct scan, found out it was stage IV, and then cancelled the purchase of that house.
A few months ago it came onto the market again, so more than 5 years after diagnosis my wife and I purchased it, and are moving in tomorrow.
I was certainly not thinking about moving for a long time as my mind was on beating the 2 year prognosis I was given, but as time has moved on, I find myself almost forgetting I was a cancer patient and resuming a normal life.
Thankful to currently be in this position.

Congratulations on the anniversary and the house! I will be closing on the sale of the House my wife and I built to retire to on Friday. She worked hard to pay it off so we would own it free and clear before we retired. Its a much nicer house than the one I live in now, but upon her diagnosis we seldom got away and went there and after she passed away it was difficult for me to do so. Taxes, insurance, utilities on it have made it an expensive luxury since I can not yet retire. I also couldn't move there because it was too isolated (no phone or cell signals, no HS internet which I need for work and a long drive to an airport if I have to travel for business). Its all bittersweet as our 36th anniversary would have been Monday the 5th. So enjoy the move and new home - hopefully it won't be a stressful move. Hire someone to do it for you to take some of the stress away.

Good luck

Hey Kiwi

Back in March 2014 I made my first post and you were the third reply with encouraging words. Congrats on your house and your 6 years NED. I am positive that many will gravitate to your post for encouragement and hope like we both did in the early days.
