Swollen ascending colon

Postby Jenthomas1 » Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:13 am

Hi has anybody been able to feel their ascending colon?
I'm slim and doctors say it's my colon I can feel but it feels swollen and when I push it it feels like the swollen part moves up and down.
I'm petrified, I have an ultrasound next week but hospital won't see me till late December to discuss colonoscopy.
I go to the loo everyday twice usually so it's not poo I can feel.
Anybody have similar experience?
Thank you

We are not doctors. We are cancer patients/survivors or loved ones of patients/survivors.

You have an ultrasound coming up soon so you will have some answers shortly. Until then, I would advise you lay off dr google.

Good luck.

Hey Jen,

Please try not to worry. I know that's difficult, but there's nothing to be accomplished by stressing out. There are a bunch of things it can be. An ultrasound may provide the answer...and it may not. A colonoscopy is really the best test. Are you in the US? I never dealt with a hospital for a colonoscopy. My regular dr referred me for it and it was scheduled with the GI doc in about a week. Waiting over a month just to discuss a simple scope seems excessive.

If you try to self-diagnose and use the internet for research, you'll be planning your funeral by the end of today. Stay off the internet for medical diagnoses!

I wish you all the best.

Hi I live in the UK, the appointment I have in 6 weeks is just a consultation. It will be next yr before I get seen for a colonoscopy, that's if they will give me 1.

Previously I was able to feel it.
Right now I do not feel it anymore. :(

Try not to worry. Colonoscopy will rule out what's going on. Hopefully nothing is wrong. Can they at least order CT scan for now?

Hi no 1 doctor said CT then the other said no ultra sound! So frustrating and worrying. They just don't seem to be interested and fib you off.
