Second primary cancer

Postby spinnz » Tue Oct 02, 2018 5:46 pm

Hi all,
I've been pretty quiet for the past 2 years, but I was recently diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of the left breast after a routine mammogram and follow up biopsy. It's small, just 1.3 cm, but 2 primaries in 3 years is beyond comprehension. Any one else experience 2 primary cancers?

Margins clear of malignancy

Well differentiated
CAT / MRI's indicate NED
FOLFOX + Neulasta- 2 rounds 11/15

1/5/16 CEA 1.0, 5/16, 1.0

Thanks everyone for replying! I'm sorry we're in the same boat. I do have a lot of cancer in my family. My dad had NSC lung and my mom had stage 2 breast cancer. I think there should be a one cancer per person maximum.

A second early stage primary is better than a reoccurrence of the first cancer. When the blip showed up on my right ovary, I was relieved to find out it was an early stage ovarian cancer and not a metastatic reoccurrence of my colon cancer. That would have been a much worse scenario.

I agree with that! Recurances are much more difficult. It is weird though that I am getting cancers that usually occur in older people.

I’m 36, diagnosed with CRC last week, 7 weeks after the birth of my second child. In 2016 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, shortly after the birth of my first child. Thyroid cancer was early and treated with surgery only. Still waiting on diagnostics and plan for CRC.
