Give your body a break...

Postby Mohrfamily » Sun Aug 19, 2018 5:41 pm

So the oncologist mentioned after our good scans that he will take a break in December from the oxiplatin and leucovoran and will continue his 5fu pump and vectibix.

How long before he goes back on the oxiplatin and leucovoran? We asked but she only assured us about continuing his pump and vectibix after he stops the others?

I think his Dr is transitioning your husband from FOXFOX to maintenance chemo. Generally they like to keep you on FOLFOX for 6 months and then a break if possible. If he does not need additional infusions of oxiplatin and leucovoran, why add it? I think what they will be looking for is possible growth in tumor size or new ones, at which point they would probably put him back on FOLFOX. Thus the word "stable" is always good news on maintenance.

Hope this helps,
