Urgent 2 Week Referral For Colonoscopy - I'm Scared.

Postby Anne93 » Sat Jun 30, 2018 2:27 pm

I'm 24 y/o (25 in sept), and was given an urgent referral the Wednesday before last. I have had a mass that I assumed to be a hemmorhoid for 10 years, but in the past 2 years it has increased in size and started bleeding. A year ago I lost 4 stone in 2 months, unintentionally. At the same time I started getting night sweats, and feeling like I need to empty my bowels when they already are. A few months ago when collecting my birth control my blood pressure was so low the nurse couldn't get a reading (it took 3 attempts). I went to my GP originally because I had blood in my urine. Also, my dad had to have polyps removed from his colon about 8 years ago. I'm tired all the time, I have pain in my left lower abdomen, my appetite has vanished recently which is not like me at all. I've been booked in for a colonoscopy on 4th July. Any advice, experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that Anne.
It is great you are having the colonoscopy and remember there are many things that cause similar symptoms. Try looking at it as a good solution to find out what is up and give you healing.

'It is Tough' I know, but we care.
You are in my prayers.

Am a Salvation Army chap so I complete 'knee drill' (prayer) to the Commander in Chief often. For myself personally this helps me through.

Hi Anne, As Steve stated, try not to worry, your symptoms could be caused by many things.

The prepping is the worst. The day before I prep, I usually eat soft foods like eggs, mash potatoes, etc. It makes the prep day easier.

Let us know the results, you will find a wealth of information here.

Good luck, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I'm sorry you're going through this but I'm glad you're getting a colonoscopy!*hugs* The prep is the worst part. They give you medication during your colonoscopy so you don't remember or feel pain. I hope your colonoscopy goes well!*hugs*
