Hi everybody,
Yesterday marks ten years since I was first diagnosed with cancer on May, 8th 2008. How did I miss that?! I had surgery on May 15th 2008, followed by six months of FOLFOX chemo. I've been incredibly fortunate to still be here and to have never had a recurrence. Sometimes I ask the "why me"? question (why did I survive when we have lost so many others?), but mostly I just go on with life and try to enjoy it. I'm still at the same job. My six year old is now sixteen! I just signed up to volunteer for a cat rescue a few hours a week. Life has its ups and downs, but I feel grateful today to still be in the game.
Blessings to all of you. I only stop in here now and then these days, but I came here right away when I remembered my anniversary. I guess I feel a little guilty for posting when so many of us are struggling, but on the other hand, maybe I can offer a little hope. I was not diagnosed at stage 4, but I was 3c with "prognostic factors" in the toilet. I had a huge tumor, 14 positive lymph nodes and "signet ring cell" cancer. I even had some suspicious para-aortic nodes. They were not suspicious about them until they shrunk during chemo. Thanks goodness they never showed up again.
Take care, wishing you all the best! Sending love,
Dori
