no more cat scans

Postby helen098 » Fri Mar 02, 2018 4:11 pm

well i have reached another level of NED

my onc say i no longer need to have a yearly CAT scan.
for the past 3 or 4 years the insurance hasn't wanted to pay but i had some other weird condition (the lump after breast reduction surgery, breaking 2 toes on the same foot within 5 months) which after my onc wrote a strong letter they approved.

This time lucky no other major issues so the insurance won't approve it and the onc says it it not necessary.
I am happy and also a little scared to losing the safety net, i have to keep reminding myself that "normal" people don't get a scan every year. Some never get one

I will still see him every 6 months and the colorectal doc once a year. Last colonoscopy was 2016 and i had allready moved up to the next step (every 3 years) so i won't have another one will 2019

as my onc said "yes we have to live with uncertainties
but the risk of getting a recurrence after so many years is very remote"

another level completed in the crappy cancer game :D
stage 3A surgery 6/6/6 finished chemo jan 07
11 5FU/12 Levcouorin/10oxaliplatim
port removed jun 07
anal fistula surgery oct 05 may 07 feb 08 sep 08 jun 09
