Thanks crew. Unfortunately, I think they f@&#ed things up.

I am more than 3 weeks out and still don’t have the same range of movement/ strength in right arm and to top things off, the wound has barely healed at all.

I did everything they said and normally heal pretty quickly so am very disappointed. They used internal dissolvable stitches and then closed the wound with glue. In the Centre of the wound/gash is what looks like a scab but is tinged blue (same colour as the glue). It’s movable when you touch it and it seems to be deeply wedged and possibly attached to something, perhaps the stitches.

Anyways, I’m seeing my GP tomorrow for him to check it out. Hopefully he’ll say it OK but it’s just strange given how quickly it healed when it was put in etc etc.

Other than that, have scan and bloods next week and then colonoscopy the week after so all in all an anxious couple of weeks :| On a positive, it’s my little girls 4th birthday on Friday and my birthday next Wednesday woohoo

So the GP confirmed it - the glue has stuck to the internal stitches  He trimmed some of it but couldn’t remove it for risk of opening the whole wound. He gave me a dose of antibiotics to be on the safe side and I have to go back in a week to see whether there has been any improvement.

I know I shouldn’t be whining given how lucky I’ve been every other step of the way but it’s so shitty. I’ve lost the best part of our summer being unable to swim and now I’m out of the water for at least another :D week, most likely two.

I want to stress however to anyone having their port taken out that I have to be the exception to the rule. Every other person has said there’s was easy so don’t lose faith because I’ve had a rough trot.

In the grand scheme of things I’m still waaaay ahead of the game :D

Well, summer sounds really nice right now. Yesterday are area got 4-12 inches of snow. We got about four hours of freezing rain as well and it's probably a skating rink on the roads this morning. Maybe you can do a hot tub or something else below the chest.

Hey AAC, congrats on the deporting. I hope the water will still be warm up until Easter so you have a good few months of enjoying ocean swimming this season.

Re the port I’m still glad I had one rather than using veins which looked like a real punish. My port was a bit uncomfortable & even did a twist ‘insitu’ one day, i was slightly freaking out & it was horrible to manouvre it back into position.
I thought I’d have my port in for another year or so after chemo but my onc said it was okay to have it out , & it seemed like a hassle to go in for flushing every 6 weeks so I booked the deporting. I wanted, asked & expected to be awake for it - but the surgeon surprised me in theatre & put me to sleep ( not sure why).
My chest still hurts sometimes with scar tissue or something. Fingers crossed I don’t need it again. Here’s hoping for us all.

I used to dream about the day I would get mine removed. I hated it when I first got it. Now I'm so used to it that I hardly remember I have it in. Just as well since I don't think I will ever get it out. Congrats to you! Enjoy the freedom.
