OK, Taken me awhile to get back here w/my take on things.

Didn't realize Jennifer Hudson was a seasoned judge (The Voice-UK), so may explain her boisterous behavior. Anytime I've seen her perform on TV, she comes out sings, that's it. So was surprised by the antics, i.e., shoe/book throwing, large personality.
I do like Miley, glad she has grown up some, tamed it down a bit. However, in jest or not, she & Blake will never be the King & Queen of country music!
Enjoyed Adam & Blake toning it down a bit...'anchors' a good word for those two. Glad to have a break from the 'Blake & Gwen' show.

Don't disagree there as you have it worded. There was a couple of contestants that showed up on stage, no background & I did miss the introduction of a short story. Short being the key word there.
However, again I will say pain & suffering is relative to where one is in their life, so some sniveling ok. We all do a bit of it from time to time whether it's a rant, venting, or pet peeves. Don't necessarily need to meet the whole fam damnly, tears etc, so long as the show keeps it to a minimum.
What makes a great song writer/singer? Pulling from all that pain & suffering & spilling it all out for the world to hear through your music. Now some are great actors to make themselves believable (such as Gwen).

Country music especially. If you weren't picking cotton by the age of two, in jail, on drugs, got shot, dirt poor = Loretta Lynn (Coal Miner's Daughter song & movie), Dolly Parton (Coat of Many Colors, song & movie), Johnny Cash (I Walk The Line song & movie), on & on, then what do you have to sing about? I would be surprised if any contestant won based on their story...@ least I hope not.

Really did enjoy the 4 yr old singing & those type of interactions on the show to keep interest, break it up a bit vs everybody get in a straight line to get on the stage to sing.

If judging by the first two opening shows for the season, we may be in for a good season over last season (re: judges). What was most surprising to me last season (Season 12) was the talent wasn't apparent in the beginning, then contestants took off like crazy which made it harder to choose a favorite!

Done w/my little essay now. :P

People have made it in country music with less talent than many I have seen on the Voice. IE Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams JR. Judging a 4 year old is ludicrous to begin with, as progressing age, has a multitude of hills to overcome. I was a descant at one time, and now it's hard to hit baritone notes. I was impressed with a few of the singers, although perhaps, they have already given their best shot. I will be watching to see what professional coaching may bring to those selected to continue. I know many songs that can be a challenge to singers of many different styles of music. In my opinion, it all comes down to who is voting, and the volume of votes those( at home watchers), send. I like blues , soul ,Jazz, country, and anything that is well above an average performance. It is rare, I would vote for a rock artist, or anyone who could not travel at least 3 octaves.

I recall watching the members of Led Zepplin watching Heart cover Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedys in 2012
and seeing the faces of the Zepplins watching Ann Wilson singing THEIR most EPIC rock anthem EVER !!!!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u-PjvRyr0I
Could you even imagine singing that song TO Led Zepplin ?

THEN tonight I watched The VOICE with Moriah Formica covering Heart's "Crazy on You"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxOySQFatSw

Me, being from the Pacific NorthWET and having seen Led Zepplin and Heart live at various venues
(YES  I AM that old !!!! ) and just wishing I was there again ....

Moriah has the chops to win this

NOBODY sings like Ann Wilson or Robert Plant ... until now

Spot on CRguy w/the Holland link! WOW Watched the first 2 of the The Voice this season, taped the rest on DVR. Now so far behind. My hairdresser told me the other day I missed the best season. Dang, had so much else going on. Did you ever warm up to Jennifer Hudson as a judge? Honestly, the shoe throwing wasn't a big draw for me. Maybe I'll start watching.

Think JHudd is very talented and a better coach than I imagined .... BUTT
sometimes she looks "possessed" when watching a performance
and between her and Alisha sitting alone at the keyboard ..... Alisha !

No spoiler ... BUTT there are some who went who shoulda' stayed
some who stayed who coulda' went
Not the final four I would have selected ... JMO
and I think a couple of folks got ROBBED along the way

... and so it goes

Alright, did some mega watching, so here goes. Great season as far as talent. Hard to choose a fav. I was fine w/the final 4 w/Brooke being my fav, Addison next. I do wonder what the winner gets that the other 3 don't. From the sounds of it, judges will work w/their favs, regardless of a win. Maybe finalist guaranteed a contract & some moolah. So many good ones so will just say worst song for me = IMO Keisha butchered Gladys Knight's "Midnight Train To Georgia"...a mortal sin in my book:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jqHNToBd1U

Agree re: Jennifer behind the piano vs Alicia.

Since I don't keep up on current music, about 50% I hadn't heard/didn't like. This year not as many of the oldies, but goodies. Acoustics better this season in that I could understand most of the words over the music. Judges better this season in "toning it down". Jennifer ok as a judge, really full of herself for my taste. I like Miley. Great sense of humor, good, sincere comments...real. Busted up over that skit of her as a baby face in stroller w/her dad. Enjoyed the addition of skits this season.
I miss all of the judges singing together that they haven't done for a couple of seasons now. Blake & Gwen's new Christmas release = thumbs down. Their voices don't harmonize well together.

YA-YEAH! Sounds great. No doubt they w/b well prepped YOU, CR. Like...what goes on during commercial breaks - more nonsense I'm guessing, such as if the judges interact w/the audience. From what I've read Alecia Keys w/b back & we all know Kelly Clarkson, whose DH manages Blake Shelton. Apparently Season 14 premieres in Feb '18!

Haven't heard of either of the new programs, however just read up on The Four. Looks like viewership down 12% first to second show. Will check out The Legend later.

DON'T ask me why ..... BUTT I just re-stumbled upon this particular duo track.
BOTH great talents IMO and make a GREAT DUO !!!!!
The Voice 2017 Chloe Kohanski & Noah Mac - Semifinals: "Wicked Game"

Anyhoo, I have posted before that I have been in / out / around the music scene etc. for a LOTTA YEARS

...and as a Vet in Vancouver have encountered a few major stars and celebs during my day job !
Chris Isaak ... IMO is an incredible talent, had a show filmed here for a few years.
( The above linked song Wicked Game is one of his songs from "A Heart Shaped World" CD )
Chris has an incredible voice.

The show featured his actual band PLUS ONE !
The plus one was Jed Rees, a very cool and funny Canadian actor who played Anson the keyboardist for the band
and was always getting into .. IT !

Turns out "Anson" was a good friend of the sister of my vet assistant.
He brought his pets to our clinic and we kind of hung out for a while.

Hearing this song again
and remembering that connection to Jed and Chris
with the powerful vibe from Chloe and Noah

.......... made me feel good again
and younger and maybe even more connected and involved with life

I really didn't understand I may have lost that connection until I heard this song
and remembered
and just felt good again

Music and lyrics always do that for me
