I don't come here as much anymore but I just wanted to say Yay!!! Larry has been evicted!! Such great news Beansmama and I am so happy to hear that you're doing well. You're surgeries were not a walk in the park and it will take time to recover. You have been through a lot but it's all upwards and onwards from now on. Take it easy and take care. I am so happy for you that you were able to have surgery, may you remain NED always xx

Hello Beansmama,
Wishing you all the best .

Had a query regarding immunotherapy (Ketruda). Once you are clear, would they continue with it? If so, for how long?

Please reply whenever you feel upto it.

As of right now there doesn't seem to be any plan to continue with keytruda treatment. I haven't been to see my oncologist since before my surgery.

Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a good holiday season.

I find myself in the hospital again. I had quite the pleural effusion - they have done a thoracentisis (spelling?) twice now. The first one removing 1 1/2 liters of fluid. It seems that was the max they could drain for the very first one I had. The second time they drained 2 liters.

I am hoping to go home tomorrow - well later today anyway. They are concerned that I'm not getting enough nutrients because I keep losing weight. They don't seem to understand that this is just what my body does after surgery. I tried to tell them but how could I know how my body reacts? Lol.

I can say the NP that predicted I wouldn't be able to recuperate at home (he wanted me to go to rehab) and very disdainfully told me "you will be back in a week" has been much more respectful since he witnessed my prediction that my chest had filled with fluid again - and I was completely correct.

Anyway, enough of my complaints - I never sleep well in the hospital and I have had a ton tossed onto my plate. The ex decided to go back to AZ and gave me less than a weeks notice.

I hope you all have wonderful holidays and enjoy your time with close friends and family.

Sounds like you're in good spirits despite the setback. I had the same procedure after contracting pneumonia at rehab facility I might add. I think they are germ infested places no matter how good they look and I vowed never to go back if humanly possible, home is better anyway!

I was on TPN for 5 weeks this past May when I was unable to keep any food down due to colitis, it resolved my malnutrition. Is that something they could supplement you with to maintain your weight if it becomes a nutritional concern? It was pretty easy to do at home using my port.

Good luck with your ongoing recovery and enjoy the holidays!

Best wishes for a better and brighter 2018

Dear BeansMama,
So good to see you post.
Sorry to hear about the chest fluid, I hope that will get better very soon! How do they treat that? apart from the ”thoracentisis” I mean. Btw loosing that fluid must have also caused you to lose weight..
Sending warm good health vibrations from France and I wish for both Bean & Mama A Merry Christmas & A Happy Healthy New Year !
