Pelvic Fluid

Postby [Ana & Alex] » Sat Nov 25, 2017 7:02 am

I had my first CT after surgery and chemo done yesterday.
Everything seemed normal, no signs of local recurrence, no signs of metastatic disease. Except they saw some fluid in the small pelvis.

Can anyone relate?
Can this be normal I.e. be leftover from surgery?

Many thanks in advance!

Love,
Ana

Hi Ana,
I had a trace of fluid several times in my small pelvis. Menstruating woman physiologically has a trace of fluid in her pelvis. The amount is sufficient to be seen on CT scan. I had this situation maybe 3 times during last 2.5 years. Radiologists and oncologists were not concerned however they monitored it closely. I had also ovarian cysts due to endometriosis. The ovaries can mess up a lot with the scans.
Good Luck and many happy years in NEDville!

My ct scans always had fluid in pelvis after treatment for awhile. This last one in October indicated it has disappeared and I am a year and a half after treatment.

I also had a pocket of fluid on my scan 3 months ago. I am due for another scan on Wednesday. Thank you for asking about this as I am having the pre scan anxiety. I feel better too.

Happened to my mom, she had a rough recovery and had like a hernia, abscess and almost block obstruction. Scary stuff, but i guess it is very common. good luck.
