New CEA jumped another 1.4 in 3 weeks.

I've put in a message to ask to have scans. It's now 5.8 and has never been that high when I didn't have a met.

My scans six months ago had a cluster of tiny lung nodules indicative of infection.

Our 23 year old son 'vapes' in his bedroom with the door closed. Many times I knock on his door and it's foggy when he opens it. He has an air cleaner that helps. It used to be so thick you could hardly see! I know I have to inhale some of that. I can't find anything about that online and did find an old post here where people were vaping MJ, not nicotine/ juices.

Hope you can get a scan soon and everything is ok. Better to be safe and just to take a peek at what, if anything, is going on. FX all is well.

Sorry to hear that your CEA went up again.

I'm still optimistic you'll be fine and hoping the scans come back clear.

Hope it turns out to be ok for you . Those lung nodules cause so much anxiety . My mum had a few show up for a couple of scans but have disappeared now .

Hey Diane, sorry you're going through all this stress about your CEA. I'm also one whose CEA runs on the high side, mostly above the 5 reading. My oncologist says that that's just my body, some people, will always have a higher CEA with no sign of cancer. He will only be concerned if it would go above 10 for my case. One thing that I'm going to look into is Hypothyroidism, it's a cause of elevated CEA, I've never had a test for it, but my Mom's had a hyper active thyroid for a while, could be a genetic thing. I will have my GP test for it soon. Good thing is that with treatment it can be kept in check and causes no issues, people who are treated see their CEA levels drop to normal after treatment. Check this link:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11414169

Hopefully everything is fine, and having scans makes sense.

I happened to find that info earlier today, too! I have all the signs of hypothyroid! Weight gain (11 lbs in 9 years and eating less). Constipation. Dry skin (arms and legs). Joints ache (mostly my knees). High cholesterol. I'm turning 67 and it's very common in women my age. ETC.............. Thanks for that link!

Nick vapes to prevent smoking, too. He has a humidifier and a room purifier but I wondered if my inhaling the fog might cause an elevated CEA reading. His room is probably 10 X 11. Our house is not large. Anyhow, he and I are good friends and he works rotating shifts so when he's off or just want to chat, his door is open but if he's vaping, he closes it. He leaves it open while at work. I can't find anything that says vaping is a problem for someone who happens to just be in the room or near the fog.

I vaped for at least two years before this latest cancer. It did nothing to my CEA numbers. Nicotine use 'may' make it rise. You shouldn't worry about any nicotine coming from the ecig vapor. The nic particles are large and will drop out into the user before ever being released into the air. Studies have been done and there is no detriment to any bystanders. My hubby is a non smoker, non vaper. He does not have any issues with me vaping around him. I vape in the house without anything extra to take the vapor out. I don't fog a room up though LOL!

I'm a huge advocate for ecigs. I'm actually a moderator for an ecig forum and have spent years researching this stuff.

Thanks Robin, I was just trying to find any excuse for my rise in CEA. Nine years of this.... and now I'm almost 67. I've been healthy for most of the 9 years but mentally it's completely changed me and stolen my joy. My husband has been deathly ill twice this summer and has a large aneurysm on top of his heart. He works full time teaching and has done that to keep ME insured. I want to be here to care for him and would love to see my 23 year old find a good girl from a loving, large, church going family. He's always had just the 2 of us since he's so much younger than the rest.
