Going to be pretty short (and can't guarantee proper spelling lol)

Thank you all so much for all the positive thoughts. I don't remember cussing up a storm etc. I would wake up and then go back under because I was waking up combative. It was very much like Alice in wonderland. My mother was looked like a turquoise gnome.... Just very intricate and strange.

I'm doing ok, still worn out, moving around a bit. As far as I have been told I am NED. Of course that will need to be confirmed with scans

You've had all of us praying and cheering for you, very glad to read the good news! Take care and be gentle with yourself while you heal, I love the turquoise gnome mom... your spelling is impeccable which means it must be time for meds!
Feel better soon! :)

BeansMama, so very HAPPY to see you posting again. The above statements brings tears to my eye. You have worked so hard and and you are now NED. Keep up the AWESOME job. Get well and give em h*ll.

For what it's worth, I had brain surgery many moons ago, guess when I woke up, I was fighting the recovery staff tooth and nail, guess the had to strap me down. When I found this out the next day, I was ready to apologize. My mom put a stop to that. As she put it, the staff was not happy with me, but the surgeon came out beaming saying, she's doing just beautiful and from what I just saw, we can expect a full and complete recovery. Surgeon was the only person I needed to please, not the recovery staff.

You Go BeansMama,

BeansMama:
You have the entirety of this forum sending you collective prayer and genuine care for your well being.

Your experience with combativeness after surgery is not that uncommon. As you are feeling better, you can Google the term “emergence delirium” to better understand how and why your body was reacting as it did.

Emergence delirium is a secondary effect of deep general anesthesia coexisting with a complex/complicated major surgery. Psychomotor restlessness and combativeness is a common manifestation.

I had a protracted ICU stay and experienced ICU induced psychosis with the perforation of my intestine 6 yet ago. Your description of Alice-in-Wonderland is spot-on. I “saw” exaggerated animal shapes and troll-like people, all in vivid Kodachrome colors. It was like looking at a hologram, constantly morphing shapes and objects coming in and out of view. The intensity of the ICU setting and the torrent of medications flowing into my body played havoc on my consciousness.

No wonder you are feeling “wiped out.” Your body and mind have been through the impossible and back.

Congratulations on the success of your surgery and continued best wishes in your healing and recovery.

Well I am home! Took some juggling but I am in my house with my own things and so much more comfortable. I do have home health coming to run my fluids etc. Drains and dressing will be changed at the surgeons office as they were before.

Still have a ton of edema and am patiently waiting for the fluid shift. Waiting for my fluids to finish so I can clean up and feel much better.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm hanging in there. One day at a time.
