Update on neuropathy...2 months on!

Postby JudiB » Tue Oct 03, 2017 6:24 am

Thought it would help others if I updated on how I am now, 2 months after my last chemo!
The neuropathy in my feet is beginning to go and I get tingling and can now feel when I land on someone else's feet whilst dancing!! My balance is better and I stumble very little now. My skin colour has returned and only one sore place remains. My hair is growing, like a baby at the moment, very fine and soft but growing!
I have even had to pluck a few stray hairs between my... sparse.. eyebrows!
My energy levels have been great since finishing chemo although I do get caught off guard from time to time when I really push life!
I am pretty much doing all the things I used to do before chemo...walking with a group, dancing a couple of times a week and doing more of the mucking out of the animals!
Overall, I feel far better than I had hoped after such a short time!
BM's still far too frequent and catch me unaware sometimes but manageable ...just about!
I hope this gives some of you still on treatment some hope!
Love and hugs to you all...you can do it!

I am so glad you're feeling better. I'm about 18 months out from treatment. My neuropathy seemed to really kick in about a month after I finished chemo. My balance is better and I don't drop things like I used to. I do still have some tingling in my feet and it can be uncomfortable to walk barefoot on hard surfaces. I just basically always wear shoes or slippers. It's not perfect but it has not prevented me from doing things like exercising etc. My energy level really came back full force six months after. Overall, everything is good, functioning quite well. Bm's will prob never be the same, but have managed to get into routine that works. Congrats again, and I am glad you are feeling better and things are improving.

I quite forgot to say that my oncologist prescribed homeopathic dose of phosphorus for my neuropathy. Can't find anything about the benefits of phosphorus for chemo induced neuropathy but ... phosphorus or not, the neuropathy is improving!

Very nice to hear the improvements. Hopefully your neuropathy continues to improve. Pasting a link to a thread for those that are finding neuropathy troublesome.
