Surgery prep day!

Postby Aqx99 » Tue Jun 13, 2017 12:10 am

Today is surgery prep day for me. To say I'm nervous about the surgery is an understatement. The hospital is going to call before 2pm with the time I need to be there Wednesday. Last I heard, my surgery is going to be the first of the day at 7:15am.

My wonderful brother got my mom a first class ticket for her flight up to NC from TX. I pick her up tomorrow around 4pm. She is staying until July 2nd.

I've paid the bills, cleaned the house, filled the car with gas (my mom's going to be using it), stocked up on groceries and did the dishes & the laundry. I think I am as ready as I can be!

You're going to stay positive.....and take charge. You're going to be glad the surgery is early in the day so you can get it over with. You're going to start recovery as soon as surgery is over. You're going to get out of the hospital as soon as possible and kick some cancer butt !

I was SO nervous before my surgery. But when I woke up I had the biggest smile on my face and was SO relieved! It was the easiest for me until now - but I only realise that now.

Take a deep breath... And try to relax.
For me, I was dancing all night to Beyonce, Queens and Metallica in the hospital halls. It help my brain to calm down...

Wishing you all the luck in the world and a hell of colorectal surgeon!

Stay strong,
Ana

One thing that does set me at ease, is I have the best colorectal surgeon in the area. When my gastroenterologist came in the room to tell me about my tumor after the colonoscopy, without prompting he told me this was the guy he would go to or send his family to. In my dealings with various doctors since, they have all told me how great of a surgeon he is without me asking. My neighbor even told me how great he is, since he repaired her father's colon after it was perforated during a colonoscopy.

I also know the care at the hospital is top notch. It is a strictly surgical hospital. I had my tonsils out there 5 years ago and was very impressed.

Sounds like you are in good hands.
I'm sure you'll do fine. In fact you've already done the chemo-radiation.
This surgical part, while not easy, might seem like a walk in the park in comparison to the chemo and radiation.

All the best with your surgery tomorrow. Remember to walk, walk, walk, those halls. Bring a wrap around robe and good walking slippers.

Post when you can. Remember, you can do this.
