Hello everyone,

Mrs. Frenchie here. I have been thinking about all of you lately because I know that Frenchie has not been keeping up on this for a while.
I think it is time for an update.

The last 2 or 3 months have not been very good for Frenchie. He had been experiencing some new pain on his right side, so a CT scan was ordered. Palliative care doctor was thinking bone cancer. Turns out his right kidney was not working properly. So May 8th he went in for day surgery. The plan was replace the left stent (now they had difficulty removing and replacing this one in Nov 2016) and put a new stent in the right kidney. If worse came to worse there was the option of stents directly in the kidney through the back (can't remember what that was called at the moment). Frenchie was terrified about getting that.

Surgery was completed - left stent not replace (not even sure if it was removed), right stent put in place. While in the bladder the doc cleaned all the cancer growth that he saw which was later confirmed to be colon cancer growth not bladder cancer.

A few months ago he could still was the dogs with me and do 4 kms but now not so much. He has good intentions of going shopping with me like he use to but he has no stamina. Last doctor visit he told her that he wants to make it through the summer, after September he does not care. Truth be told I just can't see him being with us for Christmas this year. I have seen such a change in him these last few months that it breaks my heart.

He has fought the good fight for almost 8 years come September and I can see that he is tired right to the bone. His brother is out here now since the end of April. Ron has not been able to go out the campsite as the drive is to long for him. I bought us a hot air balloon ride for Christmas for our bucket list, we are trying hard to figure out how to get him to be able to do this. Most days he has to stay close to the bathroom. We know how to fix that but the whole excursion is about 4 hours from start to finish - that will just where him out completely. But we are still working on it :)

Well that is the update from us for now. You guys are on my mind as I watch Ron every day, I will be back with more when I get a chance.

Hi Ron and Mrs Frenchie,

Thank you so much for the update, you are an inspiration to me Mrs Frenchie and a pillor of Strength for Ron.

What you are going through now, no one should have to do that, but with every step and each day you approach it with dignity, strength and courage that seems super human.

I hope you and Ron enjoy the Summer as much as you can and find some way to get Ron air born and tick another thing off his bucket list.

You remain as always in my thoughts and Prayers

Love always

Thank you, so much, Mrs Frenchie, for updating us! You're truly kind.
I'm sending much much love for Ron, you and his brother!!! He's always present --specially, when I hear a good twisted joke about oncologists, that we both appreciate : )
May our dear friend Frenchie --Ron-- be free from any suffering, and from the causes of suffering. May he feel love.

Hello everyone,

Mrs. Frenchie here again :D

Today is hubby's birthday (67) butt he is celebrating it in the hospital. :(

Took him to the ER yesterday as I have been having some concerns with him this last week. We went Monday for meds for yet another bladder infection. Over the next few days I saw changes in him like staggering when he walks or as he walks he will suddenly freeze for a few moments, mumbling instead of clear speaking, or seeing things that are not really there.

We have changed his pain meds from Oxy to hydromorphone (?) in the last 3 weeks or so, so between that and waiting to long to go to the doctor about the bladder infection - which is the cause? Or is it the damn cancer.

My brother in law was with him tonight when a doctor came to see Ron and told him so far the blood work looks pretty good as does the bladder. Well hells bells, that does not tell me anything!!!

I know his journey is coming to an end and I am ok with that. I have had 7.5 years to prepare for this. Up until January it was not that hard. He does chemo, we have a break, we live our lives. "Cancer" was just a word in our life. Ron was such a positive person, it just never stopped him until recently. He could not do the long walks with the dogs and I. Going shopping was ok but then he has to go lay down for the rest of the day. Everything now was an effort for him to do so instead of doing he would choose not to do it. Lately I could get him to go out with me and do something with the promise of a banana split afterwards. He does not eat much but he is Into banana splits right now.

I will have to take one to him tomorrow when I see him after work. Hope you don't mind my writing on here, I'm rambling away on here where my intention was an update.
