Need Input - Pain in colon & fever
Hi Folks, Need some input from past experiences. My Wife yesterday starting to have a sharp pain in her left side of around the colon area. In addition, she is running a slight low grade fever (100 F). Ibuprofen seems to knock everything down to a manageable level for her. I told her we need to see a Dr. or go to ER, but she thinks it may a part of the Avastin working on the colon tumor ? Anyone else ever had these problems ? We are scheduled for our 12 rnd of Chemo this Wed. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks !

My husband was instructed to go to ER with fever of 100.4.
However in this situation I would go to ER or at the least call the doctor - could be perforated colon.

DH - dx Dec 2014, stage IV with bladder & peritoneal involvement - non-resectable
Colostomy
FOLFOX failed
FOLFIRI failed
Tumor actually distending pelvic skin
Not a candidate for last-ditch pelvic exenteration
Stivarga finally begun 2/19/16
Tumor growing/fungating
Lonsurf started 11/18/16
Died 3/10/17

I know this is late, butt I sure hope your got answers today either from her Dr.(s) or the ER. Because she is getting Avastin, you don't want to mess around with pain and fever.

Hi Lee - CT scan this past week revealed diverticulosis in a short segment above and separate of the colon malignancy. Her Onc is putting her on 2 hi-powered antibiotics. Her pain and fever only lasted a couple of days and is very manageable right now. Whew !!!

Thank you for the follow up. So glad to hear it was diverticulosis and not some chemo/surgery related. Diverticulosis can be very painful, my mother had it once. Always assume I would have it too. Guess not. Anyway glad she's feeling better.
