RFA

Postby Loribob » Thu Apr 13, 2017 4:51 pm

Was wondering if anyone had any information on acceptable waiting times for RFA , two liver mets. Husband had colon / liver resection February 2016 , first line Folfox failed , 2 new liver mets towards end of folfox round( 12). Is pn waiting list for RFA , been six weeks now waiting .Have tried several avenues to have intervention done sooner , still waiting!!! Feeling anxious about the wait. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I haven't't heard of a waiting list for ablation procedures. Are you in Canada?

I've had microwave done because my radiologist said it was more affective for colon cancer. It's all just zapping the danger things. I didn'thave to take a break from chemo except for Avastin. I had to be off the Avastin for 6 weeks before and after.
My liver is almost healed now so soon I will know how affective it was.
Both procedures are pretty much the same except for what happens at the tip of the probe so let me know if you have any questions about the experience.

Yes we live in Montreal. Have been waiting six weeks since request was sent to radio/ interventional department. They do other procedures there as well, waiting for a confirmed date is very frustrating and worried tumors are growing.

I'm so sorry you have to wait so long. Cancer is hard enough without having to constantly jump through hoops just to get treatment.
I hope you get a date soon!
