Sending strength and love your way.

Thanks SO much Maia!! I really appreciate this comment. But it seems now it was all for NAUGHT!

Husband Ron diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on 3/15/16, right after first colonoscopy at age 68. Had surgery to remove tumor on 3/31/16. Many mets on top and bottom of liver that are not resectable. Started chemo 4/28/16 using Fluorouracil (5-FU) and Irinotecan. Started Erbitux 5/26 on third chemo. Had very good results on 7/14 CT scan!! Treated with Avastin and Capecitabine 8/4/16. CT on 10/18 showed cancer growth. Now on FOLFOX. Placed in Hospice in early December and passed away 12/29/16.

I know. But you said it well... "it seems now...". And it's OK. You, right now, feel what you feel. Words feel quite hollow during acute suffering. Just... (((hug))) : )

I hope you don't think this presumptuous of me, but from the perspective of the cared for (and not the caregiver), however it may now seem, please believe me when I tell you that none of it was for naught.

Please accept my condolences, I'm so sorry. Be aware that most states have malpractice statutes of limitations around two years. So if you are serious about a lawsuit, check it for your state and do not delay. It's the worst possible time to do it while grieving for your loss, but the law is the law and it's stacked in favor of doctors.

Ron'swife, I have to appreciate Jim's comment b/c I agree. I was a caregiver for my DM, DH. They know & appreciate what we do for them as caregivers, advocates...which is what we needed to do @ the time. In case you aren't aware, we have a thread for Loved Ones Left Behind:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46183&p=418107&hilit=loved+ones+left+behind#p418107

I hope reading/posting in this thread may bring you some small bit of comfort. It's really rough, I know.
