Got my scans results today after 11 rounds of Folfiri+avistin, the met in my left lung did not show up at all and the right one is cavitated and slightly smaller. My oncologist is considering the right one inactive. He has me scheduled for a scan early April then meet with him April 12 to go over results. I asked for a referral for a consult with a thoracic surgeon and a interventional radiologistat OSU because I want the right met GONE!! My oncologist tried to talk me out of it but agreed to send a referral. Has anyone else experienced an oncologist who is reluctant to do anything other than chemo?

As many people here have noted, oncologists are into chemo, surgeons are into cutting, and radiologists are into nuking. It's their field of expertise so they feel more comfortable discussing/pushing their area.
However, I completely agree with you about pushing for surgery or RFA on the met on your right lung. The only way to know it's really gone is to cut it out or fry it. If it's in a good location, you might be a candidate for VATS, which is a simpler lung surgery with a shorter recovery time. RFA is also a possibility with little to no recovery time. Don't let your oncologist dissuade you. Ultimately, it's your life on the life and this is your decision!

My oncologist also said it would take a miracle for me to find some one to treat my disease surgicaly. Luckily I have found a Radiologist who wants to freeze the crap out of my liver mets and it's out patient. The cool thing about Cryo and RFA is that they can be administered several times if mets come back and they won't make other treatments unavailable to you in the future. My Radiologist says he thinks the Cryo could stimulate the immune system too, making treatment more effective. I can't wait to find out!

Right now I go to Kettering Hospital Cancer center but I asked for references to the James. I'm wanting VATS and I know people at the James who suggested Robert Merrit, so I asked my onc to get me a reference to him and a reference to an interventional radiologist.

Good luck with your meeting. I met him for a consult. He said mine was inoperable, however if it got to one lung he would remove one side of it. No thanks.
My onc stated they wanted to save SBRT for when complications occur-translation-when chemo stops working. I am pro elimininating my lung mets to reduce tumor burden and will push for radiologist consult or switch oncs. My xeloda and avastin have reduced both mets and the third turned out to be benign.
