MEDI4736 CLINICAL TRIAL (KEYTRUDA)

Postby BIG ROB 69 » Sun Aug 28, 2016 2:15 am

Hopefully I will start this trial after I clear my jaundice, caused by a little blockage in my bile duct stents. I will be documenting this on a weekly basis for both anyone who needs the info, as well as to keep an active journal for myself. Will post personal stats soon.

MEDI4736 is a novel anti PD-L1 checkpoint inhibitor. Since you are receiving it as a single agent, this implies you are MSI-high. Can you confirm? Most of us here at ColonTalk are MSS.

So since being accepted as a candidate for the trial, I have been in the hospital for 6 days because I was turning jaundice, so a tube was installed in my bile duct and I have an infection in the blood. Went in on 9/1/16 and out on 9/6/16. Antibiotics prescribed for 2 weeks. Lets see if this delays the process. Stay tuned.

So I have been rejected for clinical trial, but will now start immunotherapy drugs. Any thoughts?

A friend of mine was in a trial with MEDI4736 (durvalumab) for bladder cancer, but it didn't work for him : (

That sounds promising! Which drugs? Off-label/ out of a trial?

Keytruda is an anti PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor. It has been good results from it for some CRC patients who have tumours with MSI-H (microsatellite unstable tumors -high unstability), which accounts for some 15% of the CRC; then, most of the CRC tumours (ca. 85%) are MSS (microsatellite stable) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4901118/
. That's why Hawk was asking you about it : )

Second Keytruda infusion yesterday, along with a dose of iron, as I am always low on my red, but whites were ok. I feel pretty good today, and slept all day yesterday after I got home. Was told that I gotta take Xarelto my whole cancer life. I hate taking that shit...it kinda scares me after seeing those commercials against it. Went from 140 lbs to 147 lbs in three weeks.

I understand your fear about the Xarelto, I am on Eliquis. It scares me to be on a blood thinner because my counts - particularly my platelets have historically been low. I'm hoping that now I am on immunotherapy with Opdivo things will straighten out and I won't have the bleeding issues I had before.

Keep us posted on how the keytruda works for you!

Keeping you in my prayers,

3rd shot today...CEA went down to 415...HGB up to 10.0..
still got iron, but that was a good count. Felt not that bad for the most part these past three weeks...almost always sleepy...hopefully it's working. Apollo doesn't wanna do a scan for a while...maybe after next one. Praying a lot.
