Nerves setting in...

Postby Pathfindergrl28 » Mon Oct 03, 2016 2:18 pm

I'm 36/F. I am scheduled for my colonoscopy this month on the 21st, and I'm already getting nervous.... :| I had one in December 2014 where my doctor found a benign tubulovillous adenoma. It was 12 mm. He is a great GI doctor, nice bedside manner, did great with my last scope. I did have a little bleeding for a couple of days though because of the polypectomy & hemorrhoid banding which cleared up.

He wanted to do a follow up scope in 3 years, but I pushed him to do it earlier due to my age, so it will be almost 2 years this month. I'm wondering if I'm getting it done too earlier?? I don't want to do unnecessary medical procedures, but where I had this type of polyp so young want to be cautious as well. I also dread drinking the movi-prep :( Moviprep is what my doctor recommends. I did ok with it, but hated the flavor.

I think it's fine that you are having a follow up colonoscopy a little sooner because of the type of polyp and your age. I hope that your prep and colonoscopy go well!*hugs* Maybe others have suggestions to help with taking the movi-prep. *hugs*

Thanks... It's good you are staying on top of things too. Prayers that your upcoming tests are all clear as well. I'm just stressed out this month on top of everything! lol I was just hired on at a new work from home job nursing and am currently in training. I Have to pass a test to keep employment which is coming up soon. Plus upcoming colonoscopy, my head feels like it will pop from stress!! lol Keep us updated as well...

Congratulation on the new job! Try to concentrate on the training and keep your mind off the colonoscopy.

I just wanted to update everyone. I had my 2nd colonoscopy done this past Friday. So glad it's over, I really dislike the prep. I mixed my movi-prep with Gatorade this time though instead of water, and I didn't feel as weak & depleted that way. Fortunately, it was all clear. When I woke up the nurse & doctor told me that there were no new polyps, no regrowth at previous adenoma site, & no cancer. I felt very blessed and relieved. I honestly thought he'd say I had new polyps or the previous adenoma I had grew back. He put me on the 5 year colonoscopy schedule, but said I could come back sooner if I wanted. I think I'll go back sooner! Thanks everyone, and I just wanted to update. I'm very thankful I found this site after my first colonoscopy, it motivated me to get my second scope earlier.
