Do the benign polyps come back?

Postby Pathfindergrl28 » Mon Sep 26, 2016 8:44 pm

I'm 36/F. I'm due for a follow up colonoscopy next month. I had a 12 mm tubulovillous adenoma (benign) removed from my sigmoid colon in Dec. 2014. My GI doctor said it didn't have dysplasia, and the path report didn't mention it either. He said he completely removed it via polypectomy. I was just wondering do polyps these size typically come back?? I was wondering what had been some of your experiences with follow up colonoscopies for benign polyps over 1 cm? Thanks everyone...

if the polyp was completely removed, it can't grow back. Of course, other polyps can grow - probably also benign and probably pretty small if your colonoscopy was 2 years ago. 8)
MSS, KRAS Wild NRAS Mutated
9/2012 CRC IIB Lft Colectomy 0 lymph nodes 0 Chemo
10/2013 CT clear

Thanks for your replies... Where my polyp was 12 mm, just nervous about the follow up colonoscopy... Definitely praying it's clear.... Was just wondering what others experiences were... :)
