Four hour surgery and my surgeon said that the surgery could not have gone better. He was able to easily remove the tumor and the surrounding lymph nodes. He didn't need to use the robot and the biggest news is that I don't need a colostomy bag!!!!! I'll have some healing and bowel issues for a while but much better than a colostomy bag and I am beyond thrilled with this news! All that stressing for nothing. I'll spend about two nights in the hospital as long as I have a bowel movement. I am bubbling with joy, you just can't imagine. Waiting for my breakfast, doc said chew good, I am starving.
Pain yesterday after surgery was a 10 had a nerve block but it took a long time to administer and kick in. Today pain about 5-6 having tordal (anti-inflammatory) and neurontin (pain & anticonvulsant), waiting for it to kick in. Have to walk a lot today, only got up and sat in a chair last night. Occupational and a physical therapists were here. Took a walk and occupational discharged me since I'm self sufficient, physical will be back tomorrow. Am walking now.
Also have a breathing machine to use 12 times today due to emphasyma. Had breathing things in my nose but they are out now. Oxygen level can't go below 90. Yesterday my husband and daughter were cracking up because when it went below 90 I had to put the breathing things in and take deep breaths but i was having trouble finding my nose cause I was higher then a kite
Five small incisions with minimal pain. Big incision where they took the tumor out is really painful as well as inside my abdomen. Nurse is here to inject heparin to help prevent blood clots. Also taking Tordal (anti-inflammatory), Neurontin for pain, Protonix for my gerd, Entereg to restore bowel movement, Heparin injection to prevent blood clots. Doc will not let me take cintidine/Testament.
Hope others read this that are going to have surgery, proves that it can be easy and miracles do happen!
I am at UCI Medical Center hospital/Chao Cancer Center, they are wonderful, kind, caring and make sure all of your needs are met. I highly recommend.
