Cannabis oil - breathlessness

Postby thehunter » Sat Jun 04, 2016 2:30 pm

Hi everyone
Has anyone tried cannabis oil to relieve pain?
My brother has back pain from his cancer (and or chemo) so has tried a small amount of cannabis oil. He found that although it made him sleep he found it made him very breathless. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks for any replies!
Cheers

While I do not have direct experience, a lot of people here have tried with great results. Guess sometime you have to tweet the formula just right. Hopefully others will be long and can offer some good advice. My suggestion for the moment is to cut back on the amount and see if that helps. If not maybe talk to folks who he got it from. They might have the right answer.

Has he smoked or done any prior to this? Some people (like myself) are more sensitive and it can cause anxiety which may bring on the breathless feeling.

Nope never breathless but it does take time to find the right amount and taking too many drops can cause unwanted reactions. There are so many different kinds, need to make sure you have the right one that fits your brothers situation, a good shop and shopkeeper can help with that. Good luck...

You may wish to find out HOW their oil is made ????

if it is any variation of RSO recipes .... they often use a range of volatile solvents which personally, I would not want to inhale or ingest !
It may not be the cannabis itself, it may be a result of the "processing" ??? and he could be having a reaction to it.

Be prepared for them to get defensive :
" OUR product never hurt anybody... OR it is safe and been used since 1999 ... OR this is Rick's latest recipe " etc.
Caveat emptor

Best wishes

I'm an oiler. Thc for tumor death, high cbd is for pain. If your not trying to kill tumors, go high cbd and low thc, see how that does.

What exactly is an oiler Nate? I didn't understand the info i googled. A friend made mine, not sure what strain it is but it is mixed with coconut oil which she did herself. I don't really like it, don't think it's what i need, but it works for her neck problems. Thanks for the info on the 2 kinds. I don't have pain from the tumor, but i want to be prepared in case i do, not into pills.

What I think may be a big issue is MJ is not legal everwhere. So, many get theirs from who knows, yes, some grow their own, but if not, you don't know. We currently have med MJ here, but places who don't it's many times taking a gamble. I feel if it were regulated like all meds, we would know. If one doesn't work, try another, etc. This is the scary thing (especially for people who don't have alot of knowledge). If we did, the docs could adjust accordingly. Otherwise, we are like a bunch of lab rats. Jmo

I'm big on not taking anything with MJ (past reasons I won't go into) and still am against it. But now with the med uses, I am giving it thought, alot of thought as I said I would never again. Difficult decision for me.

I would add that the oils and edible marijuana are much stronger than the smoked leaf, which itself is pretty strong these days.

I didn't do the oil or an edible for this reason. Instead I put a very small punch in a one hit pipe took the small hit and exhaled and that was enough to ease the chemo issues and pain for a couple of hours. It also didn't require smoking a lot, jut very small amounts every so often.
Diagnosed with stage III rectal tumor (though probably late stage II) January 2006.

Ooops. Liver tumor diagnosed 10/13 after elevated CEA. Liver resection for 5cm tumor 12/6/13.

he has to start with a very tiny amount. did he get a script for the oil? a very little goes a long way. a drop of oil the size of a grain of rice is all you should start with. you need to do the oil containing cbd in the morning and the oil containing thc in the evening and it has to be the right strain of oil. if it is not legal in your state you can go to a state where it is legal see a doctor they will tell you what you need but won't write a script and leave it up to you on how to get. at least you would know if it is the right oil and amount.

HI there, thanks for continued replies. We are in the UK so this is bought from holland and we dont get any mdeical info with it.
Another friend who has cancer recommended where to get it.
But it seems to have not gone down so well with my brother. He took only a tiny drop (a few days after starting a new chemo (when feeling bad) so he is going to try it again during the week when he is not feeling so bad and has not had the chemo recently. hopefully that will help.
Really hoping it helps and he manages to tolerate it better.
I tried a tiny drop myself and didnt feel bad.
Thanks again..
