Happy 4th cancerversary to me

Postby Ehut » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:52 pm

Four years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 disease with several mets in my liver. After 9 months of aggressive treatment, I was NED and have remained that way since. My life has almost completely returned to normal, except for the 6 month ct scans and doctor visits. I feel for the other members who haven't had as favorable an outcome, but I still visit this site regularly and think about you all. Hoping to post in a year when I officially become a long term survivor!
Dx 12/11 rectal stage IV w/ 6 mets to liver, age 35

CONGRATS!!!
As of this upcoming February (Feb. 19th),...I will be 3 years NED, from diagnosis. I don't post much here in the forum lately,...but I visit a lot. I like to keep touch with what's happening with everyone. And you know, cancer really changes your life, and your whole viewpoint from then on. So I come and lurk about, and keep up with everyone. So it's really great hearing from others who have made it to nedsville, and are staying there (for awhile, or forever). :D

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words, everyone. For the first 2 years after chemo ended I took a few supplements, but have no idea what, if any, benefit they gave. I took PSK, modified citrus pectin, Cimetidine, and baby aspirin. I think there is definitely a psychological benefit to taking supplements after chemo, since in a way I felt "naked" after ending chemo, and this gave me some hope that I still had some "crutches". Lately I am only taking baby aspirin since there seems to be solid evidence backing its use.

Thank you. I also feel quite "naked" without chemo taking supplements makes me feel safer.
Again your story gives me hope. Thanks.
