I tend not to do things for the holidays because everyone else does. I bribe...I mean gift...them with Girl Scout Cookies once they go on sale in February. Nothing beats a late winter sugar rush just as they are getting over the holiday sugar rush.

Never really thought about it..I figured if I started handing out gifts it would start to snowball where I would feel like I would have to keep doing it. But if I did..maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant where they might go for lunch.

My dad is always taking donuts into the staff, not just at holidays. If it is anything like being in a school, our staff room gets filled with treats at Christmas from students. I think something other times of the year would be appreciated. Things we like are chocolates, especially the wrapped ones, nut trays, popcorn mixes. Things that do not require refrigeration and keep for a long time.
DD to 81 year old father
dx 24/07/14 iv cc mets liver/lung

I've been thinking about this too. My next onc appt is just before Christmas. I feel like I need to bring something. I was thinking maybe home baked cookies. Is that too lame?

Home baked cookies are the bomb - not lame at all. Though only if they are truly home and hand made. Not from a baking mix.

Any home made food items - jams, cookies, roasted nuts - would score super high with me.
