Currently Incurable Scientist: Putting out the Inflammation Fire (Xilonix)

Postby DK37 » Tue Sep 15, 2015 7:58 am

My September experimental CRC drug "The Currently Incurable Scientist" science column has published on the Fight Colorectal Cancer website! http://goo.gl/2ACPwU

“Putting Out the Inflammation Fire” discusses the roles of inflammation in cancer patients as well as Xilonix, a drug in Phase 3 clinical trials which hopes to combat CRC but… with a hoped for INCREASE in quality of life!

Please feel free to post question comments below. I’ll also upload a “Special Directors Cut” post with additional/behind-the-scenes info on my personal blog tomorrow.

Cheers,
-DK

I wrote a personal blog post to offer an unofficial extended Director’s Cut & some behind-the-scenes Blu-Ray bonus features for September's Fight CRC monthly Currently Incurable Scientist column… purely if anyone is interested in a slightly deeper dive into cancer inflammation & some of my personal thoughts on the Xilonix trial/drug discovery.

Consider it a bonus Disc 2 - hopefully without too many bloopers!

As always very interesting info !

The whole "immune" system .. cascades, innate, adaptive, cellular, humoral ...... has GOT to lie at the root of all cellular and microenvironmental neoplastic processes.
We keep looking for the switches to turn things off and on, and with the right targets and switches we could have a winner.

Looking forward to the sequel :)

Cheers

Thanks for the information!

I am on it now. I have finished 3 cycles. The side effect is not big. It seems not working for me. My CEA rise every time.

Thanks,

Very interesting article that gives some hope. Do you know if and when this drug would go for FDA approval, possibly fast track? and if and when it could become available/approved for standard of care.

Sorry to hear about the CEA rise Daniel... You are in a double-blind study correct, so unsure if you are getting the Xilonix drug? Wishing you all the best-

From this August investor update, the company says that enrollment in the European Phase 3 trial was complete. http://investors.xbiotech.com/phoenix.z ... ID=2079901 If the data is good, that would mean asking for European approval in 2016.

From this second investor update, the company says that enrollment for the FDA trial is expected to be complete in late 2016. http://investors.xbiotech.com/phoenix.z ... ID=2078118 If the data is good, that would mean asking for FDA approval in 2017. It has FDA fast track designation.
