Bad Update on my DH's CT

Postby ilivebyfaith » Wed Sep 16, 2015 5:05 pm

As we were really hopeful in doing the laser thing in Germany, we got the latest scan results and it showed progression in lung mets size and possibly new hepatic lesions, 3 on each side.

Here's the mets update as per scans:
March 2015 - 120+ lung mets, no other spread (folfiri + erbitux)
June 2015 - Lung mets Reduction in number and size, not defined exactly how many lesions. No other spread. ( folfirinox plus Avastin)
September 2015 - Lung mets increased in size , with lung nodes 35-L and 26-R , (possible) hepatic spread, 3 on each side, biggest being 1.8x2.4x1.8cm (folfirinox plus Avastin)

We will consult our onco today and discuss our options. She mentioned only thru our phone conversation that she might put my husband on oral chemo, not sure if Stivagra is the name.

I've already researched about it and it is not that popular because of its side effects, haven't gotten any news also regarding its efficacy.

I will still mail my husband's latest cd in Germany and try to get Dr Rolle's opinion regarding my husband's condition.

I've learned about this only yesterday and decided not to tell my husband yet, as he was on an all day meeting yesterday and wanted to spare him of this news until today. Might let the doctor be the one to explain the latest results and treatment plan to him.

I've poured a hefty cry yesterday until there's no more tears left, right now I feel numb and still crying On the inside. I have called his mom to go with us, for her to hear the treatment options as well. Im in my valley. I feel as if I'm drowning. I'm so clueless and don't know what else we can do.

Really sorry to read this. You have just received some good advise. Treatment options are still being offered and that's a big thing. Hope they get a plan for him soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Have you looked into the TIL trial at NIH? That may be something worth looking into. There are so many trials out there, it can be overwhelming. Keep pushing for trials, testing etc. Has MSS/MSI testing been done?
Best wishes
Katy

Now that you have heard the news and had your meltdown and believe me I know a lot about that, research all options. If you haven't had 2nd or 3rd opinion at a well known cancer hospital, do it now. Hard news is handled better when there's a plan of attack. KNOW all options, have very truthful conversations, talk about everything and nothing. Keep looking to the future-it does help the patient. My son was very very ill and what kept him going was planning a wedding. He lay in bed that morning and listened to the house buzzing getting ready for his wedding day with his beloved. Do plan things as if there is a future because there just may be one.
And one thing we learned was keep things as normal as possible, don't bite your tongue if you don't agree with them, as much as I love my son he was very stubborn and loud and cantankerous at times. I would call him on it just as I would if he didn't have cancer.
Find your support circle and we told our friends do not climb down into the hole we are in, stand on the edge and hoist us up!
Love and healing thoughts sending your way.
