HIPEC

Postby Cherie » Fri Sep 04, 2015 8:42 am

My HIPEC surgeon stood right on the fence and would not recumbent HIPEC for me saying my cancer would likely come back. But he also would not say I wasn't worth trying. FUCK!! i can't find any over doctor in little NZ to give me a second opinion now I looking at the USA. Please let me know your story if you have had Hipec. How much cancer and where did you have it? What has been your outcome? And do you have a surgeon I could get a second opinion from?

There are more to be found if you do a HIPEC search in the search box tool that I have noticed in the past, some w/recommendations. The above link is a recent thread that was started.

Definitely come to USA! There more HIPEC doctors to choose from in america. Also, your hubby would have a chance to find a new job, as he (according to your previous posts) hates his current job in new zealand.

Good luck!

I had HIPEC in May. It was not the silver bullet for me, but likely has little to do with the competence and skill of my surgeon, but rather the fact that my cancer SUCKS. I have had a recurrence, but not in the peritoneum as far as we know. I posted in more detail in the thread bitchslapped referenced above. I would be happy to share anything about my experience, if you have any questions. Feel free to pm if you'd like more info...

I also had HIPEC in May and have had a recurrence, 2 spots in my liver and 1 in the peritoneum.

I would (and at some point probably will) do it again in a heartbeat!

My surgeon was great, Dr Gary Mann. He was at Univ of Washington when I had my surgery but has since left UW and is at MD Anderson.

I'm happy to share any other info/details, feel free to reach out... Here or private msg.
