Don't need two. You either want it or you don't. One would suffice dedicated for those who gain benefit from sharing in spiritual support, inspiration, stories, aside from the general forum. We have a News Story Sticky Thread, but nothing for those who gain strength & hope through sharing in faith...maybe @ a time when they need it most. It would be a win/win situation w/minimal effort IMHO. Wouldn't necessarily eliminate all of the conflict, but certainly serve as an "offramp" to divert a good portion of it.

I agree, my original post in the thread had the best of intentions, describing my family's initial exposure to colon cancer and how we are coping, and of course others just couldnt help but to feel compelled to say that what I posted was unnecessary and insulting to those who HAVE been fully healed (which anyone here with half a heart, in their conscience KNOWS that is not the case AT ALL), etc, etc.

In any case after my last post I have not visited the thread to see the responses, as Im sure they are even more angry, telling me even more how wrong I am or how deluded my beliefs are, etc. Im done with the arguing there, but Im just not the person to roll over when jabs are thrown at me. Its over now, Ive said my piece, Im done with it.

No need, Nikki, all one needs to do is stroll over to Facebook and type Christians in the search menu, there's a plethora of groups where like minded folks can get together without objection.

Just wondering what the big deal is? Why MUST there be a response to anything religion related? Why is it impossible to let those that believe have there corner on this forum? Live and let live?

Me thinks thou dost protest too much.

I don't follow...my question is reasonable...no? Why not leave the religion to the religious?

I think a good rule of thumb on this or any other Internet discussion forum is, if you don't want to generate backlash or get flamed, don't talk about politics or religion.

I really have little tolerance for anyone who comes into a discussion with a chip on their shoulder. Unfortunately, there's no shortage of chips on shoulders where these two topics are concerned.

I get that. I don't know that it is realistic when the subject matter is one that involves life and death.

I have no idea what you're talking about since I try not to think about cancer and stay away from the forum until it's close to testing time but I can tell you that another forum attempted to have a separate area for religious remarks, prayer, etc. about 5 years ago. FLOP!

Well all hades broke loose because a Quaker would 'send light', a Baptist (me) would post prayer to Jesus, a Catholic would call on a chosen Saint and atheist came to stir the pot. Now you had people wanting threads for different religions/ denominations. That won't work because, last time I saw an official count, there were 143 types of Baptist and that doesn't count those horrible Westboro folk who hate everyone who doesn't agree with them.

I just yesterday wrote a leukemia patient on Facebook who is in the hospital and her dog got lost if I could pray for her to get better while I drove around and looked for her dog. I didn't know her, just saw her plea for help finding her dog. She happened to be a Christian (I have no idea what denomination) and welcomed it, but I'm trying not to say 'I'll pray' automatically, assuming people want prayer.

All I can say is MY BEST, in my Christian opinion, that I can do for you is pray. You are welcome to wish me well, send light, swing chickens, think of me......... and I will be thankful for your kindness and your love. But, again, if you get ME, you get my beliefs.

Hope this can be solved without splitting the board. A few years ago someone said 'Let's fight cancer and not fight each other!'
