Whenever you read a cancer booklet or website or whatever, they always list depression as a side effect of cancer. In fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer. Depression is a side effect of dying.
The good part about dying is that when you have nothing to lose, you can run any risk you want. I eat everything the docs told me not to. It may affect me months from now. I am
banking on the fact that I will not be around long enough for it to make a difference.
It's not that we have to die some day. It's how many things we have to quit all at once.
Music, laughter, the scent of rain, the color of the sky, coffee, literature etc.
If only we could leave this life slowly.
Here is a question that I have asked myself more than once lately.
How is it that one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire ??
Worring works ! 90 % of the things I worry about never happens !!
I was also wondering if an atheist can get insurance for an act of God ??
Out for a walk the other day, I noticed a little old man rocking in a chair on a porch.
" I can't help noticing how happy you look " I said, " what is the secret to your long and
happy life ? "
"I smoke 3 packs a day" he replied, " I also drink a case of whisky a month, eat fatty foods
and never exercise."
" That's amazing " I said, " How old are you ? " 26 he replied.
I tried to teach my son the evils of alcohol. I put one worm in a glass of water and one
in a glass of whisky.
The worm in the water lived, while the one in the whisky curled up and died.
" All right son " I said, " What does that show you ? "
" Well dad " he said, " It shows that if you drink alcohol, you will not have worms "
