Yes I believe he died for our sins and it is our sins that crucify him over and over again and will send us to hell unless we ask for forgiveness and change our ways. He gave us free will to do whatever we wish, but he also gave us a conscious to know right from wrong.

god bless,

Thanks Deb. I always like to hear everyone's perspective. I was raised with a catholic background. I always struggled with religion and how the church seemed to try and 'control' people. I hate that feeling. I've now done a lot of thinking and soul searching. I've spoken and asked questions. I've met many with a very strong foundation in a religious background and questioned them as well. I think its fascinating to see what other people have faith it. I use the term faith on purpose, as it is a concept that I really didn't understand until now. I do think that Jesus existed and that he was a avery very special man. I don't agree with the way MAN has organized religion around his teachings to control people as opposed to teach love and forgiveness of ourselves (which is paramount) and of everyone around us (universal love and acceptance). This is key. This is ultimately the message of most religions, LOVE. God is LOVE. Energy is Love. We are energy. We are love. Etc. Etc. Etc. Thank you for helping me sort this out for myself. It may not make sense to others...

Cb75,

I too was raised Catholic. Despite being raised in a very religious family, I rebelled and did a lot of very wrong in my life, which I regret now. As I grew older I re-visited all that my parents taught me and asked many questions to various everyday people both religious and not and after hearing all the answers and various beliefs out there, I realized on my own that my parents were correct. I've gone full circle with all this. I practice my traditional catholic faith with alot of confidence and comfort now. All the crosses that have come my way, and there have been many and they have been severe, it has only made my faith stronger.

I'm glad you chimed in. I understand your comments.

I am open to all possibilities including afterlife, that in prayer there is hope, love. All I can ask is: What's It All About, Alfie?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KCHgjMJs18

...Because I have wasted a whole lot of time on this merry-go-round called life, and for what...nothing? I just can't put all my Easter eggs in the basket of fellow mankind, and therefore consider:

"Nor do I seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe that I may understand. For this too I believe, that unless I first believe, I shall not understand."

Saint Anselm of Canterbury (c. 1033 - 1109)

― Anselm of Canterbury
Indifferent toward religion as a young man, Anselm became one of the Church's greatest theologians and leaders. He received the title "Father of Scholasticism" for his attempt to analyze and illumine the truths of faith through the aid of reason.

There is the God who is, and there is the God we want. They are not always the same.
- God Is In The Hard Stuff

In as much as I would like to believe that lack of exercise, pizza, sausage & beer, ice cream, Big Macs, cigarettes, drugs, carousing will lead to feeling good about ourselves, that total freedom in actions & thoughts may not necessarily get us where we really want to be. Or maybe it's just the throw of the dice. We want to make our own rules for ourselves...rules of convenience. It's all so...human.

Points to ponder...

While I am a strong Christian, I firmly believe that it is up to each person to form their own belief system. I am certainly not offended by those who believe differently than I do, but I can't understand why someone would be offended by what I choose to believe.

Two questions did he really die for our sins or just take a long nap? And if I watch porn will I go to hell? ( not that I watch porn Id be more worried about my wife than jesus)

I don't claim to know either way if you read my previous posts, but to say you are insulted by the mention of Jesus? I won't go into God and my belief but I will say I do think Jesus was real. Is Jesus God, not in my opinion. Anywhoo, I just don't believe people should be "offeneded" by a name or belief as long as there is no evil intent behind it.

I find this discussion really ...... "interesting" .. as in the ancient Chinese curse " May you always live in INTERESTING times ! "

Discussions about DEATH
... BUTT Nobody IN these discussions has actually died .. ?
... BUTT "we" always seem to assume "we" know shit from shinola ... ??? :?:

WHEN you have actually died .... lemme know wazzup.
Until THEN ...
WE each have our OWN interpretation and take on things.

Seriously folks, we are ALL on the same team on THIS side of the great divide.
Maybe let's leave the BS and push back until we move OVER to the other side ..... ????

Dear Carm, I am so happy to hear you feel that way! Reiki affected you because your spirit was prepared by meditation to "hear and feel" the energy.... As you can see from your own thread (great idea, btw), lots of people here are already on the same page with a quest for higher consciousness. I share exactly the same understanding that Andy21 has - we came from cosmos, we go back to cosmos, we are spirits in a physical body, not vice versa, and the death is just simply a separation of our spiritual body from our physical one, like in astral travelling. That spiritual body never dies. There is no reason to be afraid of death - if anything, it is a new adventure.... But our physical pain at the end and the soul tears of our loved ones after we are gone, is another matter, unfortunately.... That is really a heartbreaking part of our illness...
I've read a lot on the above subject, especially these days. I am trying to learn as much as I can about myself, other dimensions, astral travelling techniques, astrotheology, etc - it is all mind blowing knowledge we have never had. Everything we know is just rubbish, we have no idea what Life really is, what Death really is, how this world operates....It is really time, at least for us, people with terminal disease, to open our minds BEFORE we go.
Be well and keep that peace inside for good... Hugs to all, vilca

Bev, I can't remember if I said this already, but what you said made me think of Garth Brooks "Unanswered Prayers"
