Postby KWT » Sat Dec 27, 2014 1:53 pm

Olivia, I thought the Rick Simpson claim was you could cure any cancer in 60 1 gram doses?

Carmen knows most about this. I don't think she believes it's a cure all but beneficial in ways.

It doesn't seem like I'm hearing as much about this lately.

It's not easy at all to get believable data just collecting experiences here and there, I'm afraid.
But like you I would be glad to know if some observational study is available...

A lot of people are using along with chemo so who knows what's doing what? I do know that for nausea and appetite it's a winner.

Maybe yes, maybe no....Like anything else, there is no clear answer. I can say, it does SOMETHING BENEFICIAL for ME. This is all I can attest to. Each person needs to find their own path. Healing can occur on many levels - emotional, physical and spiritual. No one can say, which one works and which one doesn't because of the system that we are forced to be a part of. There is also the placebo effect, which is an issue for any treatment. What I can say, is that my opinion is that each person needs to find something to help them on whatever level they believe needs help. For me the Cannabis Oil has helped boost my immune system and get me through chemo. It has also helped me mentally deal with this disease and come to terms with my own thoughts on spirituality and death. This I know based on my personal experience, knowing what I take (conventional and non conventional/natural), what I eat, what I think about. I see a benefit and I feel the benefit. This is what I know for me.

For those that are interested in this supplement, there is a lot of information out there but it is difficult to decipher which is reliable. It is also not an easy path to take. It takes quite some time and dedication. This i think is a huge issue for those who use it. The 60 grams in 60 days is a very rough guide and often used as a 'catch phrase'. I don't ascribe to it. For most, it requires much much more and it is by no means a cure all. However, for some it does work....

I'm open to any discussion on this, if anyone wants more information please send me a message.

Here in the Netherlands it's getting more attention lately with some patients stating they are in remission because of medical cannabis. The most recent study about it also states some good things. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25269802

I call crap on an overall cure (for most people) BUTT I do think it has some use in helping with side effects.

That was difficult for me to understand, but the last sentence looks promising:

CBG hampers colon cancer progression in vivo and selectively inhibits the growth of CRC cells, an effect shared by other TRPM8 antagonists. CBG should be considered translationally in CRC prevention and cure.

also my experience, tried it once, and didnt know dosing, so ingested as much as possible ( since the syringe exploded everywhere....) so a gram, is WAYYYYY too much to start with, it was hell and caused a hospital stay....

Then upon more research... a rice grain three times a day until you can get a gram a day going..... anyone confirm this?

I think a couple of drops are enough each day. But this is mentioned when you buy it, it's called CBD and can easily be bought online.
If it would be me I think I would give it a try, but I would also consult the onc about it.

Its a few drops a day, then increase every few days until you get to the desired dose, which is typically around a gram depending on the profile of the oil. It can be done, and you can function quite well.

The work cited in this reference is a much simpler compound derived more from Hemp than the cannabis most people are using/advocating. See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabigerol.

The paper seems to indicate that it expresses most of its activity via inhibition of the CB2 receptor resulting in apoptosis (Cell death) of the tumor cells. This receptor has been linked to effects on the Immune system see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?tit ... edirect=no.

TRPM8 receptor seems to be mostly involved with the modulation of Pain and Inflammation. It is activated by cold - and might effect cold intolerance. Perhaps someone taking this could comment on whether it moderates or reduces the cold intolerance resulting from Oxaliplatin use?

Remember that this research is very new only having been studied in tumor cells and mouse models of colon cancer so far. YMMV

Regards,

GrouseMan

PS - One other thing - Phenols like this are often what medicinal chemists such as myself refer to as Promiscuous molecules. They have some binding activity across many different receptors and proteins making it sometimes difficult to determine how they work or if the inhibition seen is due to what is observed or perhaps some receptor we don't yet know about!
