Hello Friends

Postby chixter » Thu Oct 23, 2014 4:52 pm

It's just me checking in on you guys! I spent some time catching up. I'm sad for recent the losses in our group and other disappointing news, but we realize this is something heavy we are dealing with. I'm delighted over the many good reports though; successful surgeries, good scan results for Kenny and Rheaeliza, And I F*ng LOVE Sky Pups attitude and wish her the fondest memories on her road trip!.. Damn, this is the stuff that makes me smile.

We are holding Katie's Celebration of Life this Saturday at the State Park at the Barnegat Inlet Lighthouse on LBI. IDK how many of you are fairly local and up for travel but anyone and everyone from this board is welcome. It is from 1-3pm. If were in my power I would charter flights for you folks to be here. Carole's good friend is quite a videographer and I'm hoping for some good footage to provide links to. The forecast is showing a great day, sunny high 60's at the beach.

We are doing OK, as best we can. How terribly we miss her. I still cry at sometime every day, but I pull myself up and am able to function. Having to deal with all of her stuff...her car, accounts, med bills etc. doesn't help but that's almost done now.

My thoughts and hope is for each and every one of you to live your lives to the fullest. Fight hard, but don't let the fight take you out. Maintain that difficult balance between aggressive treatment and QOL. Absorb every ounce of beauty and love that exists here along our way....this is the best we can do.

All my love,

Greg

Ah, Chixter, it is so good to hear from you. I will be looking forward to seeing video from Katie's life's celebration, and I will be holding vigil for her and all who love her during some of that time. I will be on day 3 of my F* Cancer Tour (I should have had a T-shirt made.)

I truly can't know the depth of the pain you are feeling, I can only imagine how deep the loss is and will always be. That you love her and miss her, yet build joy around her life is a testament to you both.

Namaste, friend.

So good to hear from you.

What a special place to have Katie's celebration of life... I looked the area up online and saw pictures of the park and lighthouse.

I will be there in spirit and my heart will always hold a special place for you and your (our) dear Katie.

Glad you checked in. Life is painful but life is beautiful. I, like so many here, have been thinking of you and all of Katie's family and friends. I'll be thinking of you all on Saturday and hope it is a great celebration of her life.

Greg, I have been thinking about you and Carole today. It was 2 years ago that we got a call about our daughter, that things had turned for the worse in her cancer battle. This time of year has been tainted for me, because of all those events. We just had our first grandchild on 10/12, so that is a family blessing to focus on instead.

My family doctor wisely told me in his experience grief takes at least 2 years, so give yourself that time. Don't feel you have to get rid of all Katie's things. We still have som of Lauren's stuff in our basement and sometimes I give it to someone who can use some kitchen things or clothes. It helps me to give to people we know instead of just dropping at Goodwill.
