Diagnosed during a coloscopy 6th of August 2012, Surgery 27th of August where I was diagnosed at stage 3C (Signet Ring Cell) with 6 out of 12 Lymph Nodes cancerous). Six months of Chemo that ended March of last year. So far all of my blood work and CT scans have been good.Blood work last month saw my CEA at 2.0, down from 2.2 previous test.
This is my first post on the forum. I joined the forum sometime towards the end of 2012. Mostly I just read other peoples posts which have answered my questions without me having to ask. :-)

Still too soon for me to be thinking about being NED but I seem to be cancer free at the moment.

Thanks

Steve

I would just like to say thank you to whoever bumped this thread. I don't know if I would have had the courage to find it on my own. Really lifted my spirits and gives me a lot of hope. I go for my first visit with the Oncologist this next week. Wish me luck!

I hardly post now. My husband is now just over 3 years post treatment.

Getting rid of the fatigue took 2.5 years. There's still some neuropathy. But life is good, and we are both healthy.

It's been a while since I have posted on this board......its a good thing for me because it means I don't consume myself with "cancer thoughts" anymore. However, I feel like I should post and give a quick update, it was always so comforting to me while in the middle of my journey to read positive stories and by the grace of god, I am one of those stories......(so far....hate the thought of jinxing myself!!)

I was diagnosed 7 years ago on February 8, 2007. I was a stage 3C with 8 out of 12 nodes involved. I had surgery right away and began surgery on March 16, 2007 (my 32nd birthday). I completed 6 months of chemotherapy (Folfox) right on time and now am still on the road to recovering "mentally." My oncologist officially released me on March 16 2013 (who would have known my birthday would be soooo significant in my life???). I am going to get genetic testing done this summer, but otherwise, I'm trying to make the best out of my life and not allow the scary bad thoughts to consume me anymore.....It's a process, but it is not impossible!! Keep positive, and stay strong!!

Oncologist has cut me loose. No more CT scans...she did not say "cured" but she did say
that the chance of a recurrence was not great for colonrectal.

Sadly, I am not "out of the woods"...I was diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymph leukemia),
and MDS (anemia)..MDS probably caused by my prior radiation/chemo for colonrectal.
My kidneys are damaged....probably caused by prior radiation/chemo for colonrectal.
I was left with a wicked case of neuropathy in my feet and legs...caused by prior radiation/chemo for colonrectal.

This sounds very depressing...BUT I am still enjoying life!! I go to Florida for 6 months every winter, I have 3 wonderful
little Grandkids, I have a wonderful caring family and husband.

LIFE IS GOOD :D

I am so thankful for the care and treatment I received, and especially for my Colonrectal oncologist. She said "it is between you and\
the cancer and I am betting on you". Even with all the post chemo medical problems...I have no regrets...I believe that FOLFOX/RADIATION
saved my life :D

I started this thread several years ago when I was Stage IIIB and looking for hope. I stopped posting on it except for rare occasions after a small liver was found at my 3 year appointment making me Stage IVa. Since then I've had an open liver resection where they took 80% of my liver to remove a teeny, tiny met and no follow up chemo. I've been cancer free with a normal CEA for 26 months post liver resection. I am now 5 years 5 months and 2 weeks post my original colon resection.

When mets come, and they do for more than 50% of us, don't give up! My onc actually said that having a solitary liver met so many years out, and such a small met gave me a huge chance for this being my cure. Don't give up and don't lose hope!
Stage III cc surgery 1/7/09. 12 tx FOLFOX
Stage IV PET = 1.5cm liver met. HR 4/11/12

14 years since dx and 11 years post liver resection.
Pronounced CURED and discharged by onc

Had scans on Monday, and got results yesterday: "all clear". ~3.5 years NED from resection, just under 3 yrs NED from end of treatment. Humbly grateful and somewhat amazed at how things have gone so far!
