Gwen,
I am so sorry about your news. Cancer SUCKS big time! I admire your faith and spirit! I always enjoy reading your posts and we have another thing in common, I am a Texas girl too. I understand how finances and no insurance can impact the choices we have to make. We also have to take into account how those financial strains will impact our families after we are gone Also, just the physical and emotional toll that this disease takes out on our bodies. I am glad you got to enjoy some Cheetos and hope that your mouth will soon heal and you can enjoy eating. Thank God for sweet grandchildren who give us light and laughter. My heart hurts for you. Gentle hugs to you. Keep us posted.
God bless,
Beckie

To my Fantastic IV Friends .... Will be going back on the FOLFIRI grind in about two weeks .... This week's PET/CT scan showed small increases in size of all lymph node mets .... So will be going on the regimen for the near future .... Want to see whether it still works sooner rather than later since I am able to handle the side effects relatively well ....

Gwen, hang in there .... Everyday is a new one and a new day to fight .... I look at the future as a series of moments to simply smile at what my dogs do and my wife says .... :)

Blessings,

Tom

Gwen, I was just thinking about you and how you don't have insurance. Are you not eligible for SSDI? You should be receiving monthly payments and be on medicare by now. They can still fast-track you and pay you back pay. I don't think it can go back far enough to get you the medicare right away, but it should be a sizable chunk o' change. Please excuse me if this has been covered already, I have chemo brain!

My sweet Gwen. Of course I read your post two days ago and have thought of little else. I just can't think of what I want to say yet. I will, soon, I hope.

You are a simply amazing person, and a beacon of light and hope to us all. I love you very much, and I hate cancer equally, Mighty Queen Who is Not Nearly Dead Yet!

I wanted to add that my Oncologist freaked me out when he stated that my case was presented to the "weekly colon conference" that they have every week. He said that my case was presented because it was "Unusual". I guess I should ask the Lung surgeon about that, huh?

Candy, you know I'm not going to let you go! You were the one who helped me deal with the Stivarga. Also, we love your sense of humor.

Drebay, I was on "chemo for life" for quite a while before I realized that was what I was doing. It's doable if you listen to your body. Take 2 rounds off from time to time.

I think it's all hit me today. I just can't seem to stay awake but, then, I didn't sleep well last night. One thing I'm very grateful for is that my Thursday after seeing the onc and getting chemo is disconnect day and I'm always extremely sick for 2 1/2 days. So, no chemo on Tuesday - No disconnect day and being super sick! Woohoo!

God bless ~

Nothing to add except I never did give my name. I am Debbie. I think that DH & I should sue whoever came up with "Bennifer" as we did it first, back in 1985. We had to write a play in High School English and we put our last names together for fun to use for the family in the play. Jokingly, we did that with our first names as well. Okay....stop laughing......

I started to address you as Debbie but, then, I thought that might be wrong! I guess my husband and I would be Gwary.
