my dad passed away peacefully after a long battle of 5 years

Postby JAIN DB » Thu Oct 31, 2013 3:02 am

Dear All,

My dad passed away on October 17,2013 peacefully in the hospital . He fought this battle for 5 long years . He had no pain or distress at the end which gives us lots of relief and satisfaction . My mom , brother and me were holding his hands when he passed.

Keep up the high spirits and have a strong will power . my dad was given 3-6 months when diagnosed but lived nearly for 5 years with lung and liver and brain mets.

Amen

Dear Jain

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I have always followed your storey and all I can really say is that I am glad that your Father is no longer in pain or distress.

Time doesn't heal all wounds, but it does dull them, and I believe he fought a good, tough fight.

Keep his memories close to your heart and best wishes

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I thank you for your words of encouragement -- what a great life your dad lived when being giving such a short time originally! So glad your family was together.

I'm sure that you being such a great advocate for him had a lot to do with the fact that he had such 'extra' time with the family. May he rest in peace and may peace and love accompany you ((Jain))

Dear Ritu,

I remember your posts from before. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and so glad that your father's passing was peaceful and that he was surrounded by loving family.

From what you wrote before, your father sounds like he was an amazing person. My heart goes out to you. It is so random that someone with exemplary self-discipline and health is struck with colorectal cancer, in a country where it is not even a common illness. I guess there is nothing one can do about the hand one is dealt, but you and your family played that hand with tremendous courage. I am sure that your father's health and discipline--as well as your staying informed and proactive about his treatment--gave him the gift of extra years with you.

Your last thread blew me away. You were so calm and so courageous and articulated the details of your father's treatment so well, and were even concerned with helping others with metastatic cancer. Even now, you encourage others. Without ever having met you, I can see that your father lives in you.

Hugs, and best wishes.
