Unfortunately, bad news

Postby gep » Tue Jul 30, 2013 10:08 pm

My wonderful husband, Eli, died this morning. His liver failure progressed, the elevated bilirubin progressed, jaundice, ascites, draining, and then hospice.
I've been thinking back on our journey since 2007. I think my best advice would be not to think you have no time for second opinions or longer consideration when it's time for a hard decision.
I can't tell you how important this group has been for me along the way.

You have my deepest and most sincere sympathy. Your husband was diagnosed shortly before I was. I was diagnosed 3c in October 2007. 2007 does not seem to be a good year lately for being diagnosed. My next PET is in August. We'll see.

I want to let you know how grateful I am for your husbands participation in clinical trials. It is heart breaking that they did not work for him - but it has paved the way for better treatments down the road. All information gained from clinical trials - even those that don't work - yield valuable information for future trials and treatments.

Your husband is now at peace. May you too find the peace you so deserve.
