I thought that I would share my good news. 7 year since diagnosis of Colonrectal stage 3

Went to my colonrectal oncologist to-day......she doesn't want to see me again for 1 YEAR :D

Sooooooooooo I am happy that I am NED for colonrectal!!


However, my visits to the cancer clinic will continue. I was diagnosed 3 years ago
with Chronic Lymphocitic leukemia and MDS (bone marrow failure).
I'm on Watch and Wait. Chronic lymphocitic leukemia and MDS comes in many forms
slow, medium or fast progression.....I just live in hope that I am on the slooooooooooooow train.

That's great news about not needing to see your colorectal oncologist for another year!! My Dad had CLL, and though he has passed away, it was NOT from his CLL, but from other problems. My aunt has had CLL for 14 years and is doing amazing. She does treatment periodically and has always responded really well. I visited with her the other night and she had a ton of energy even though she is doing chemo for her CLL right now. LIke you say, it comes in different forms, but I am rooting for you to have the SLOOOOOOOW version!!!!

Thank you, I am so happy to hear of folks that have managed CLL long term.
I'm 68 making plans for my 90th birthday :D

I always remember the words of my oncologist when I was diagnosed
with stage III colonrectal and I was so scared.

"It is between you and the cancer and I am betting on you".

Great News! Know how you feel - Stage III - Onoc gave me the all clear sign - so far - after a year and a half this past week too
DX: RC 11/11 T1 N1c MX
Surgery: LAR 12/23/11
Rad & Xeloda: 1/12 - 4/12
Clean CT: 4/12
Reoccur: Lymp 4/14 4 new locations. 2 Aortic, 2 locations Rectum
Chemo to start: 6/14, OXI, Advastin, 5FU
10/14: One tumor left - on Avastin only
Surgeries: 4/15, 7/15 and 8/15 :last tumor w/Illeostomy then Ostomy
NED by 7/15 Surgery

I really like that quote!
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Diagnosed with stage III rectal tumor (though probably late stage II) January 2006.
Chemo/Radiation
Full APR Surgery
Folfox Chemo
So far NED.
Oops. Liver tumor diagnosed 10/13 after elevated CEA. Liver resection for 5cm tumor 12/6/13. So far so good.
Oops again, one tumor in each lung diagnosed 8/8/16. One too small to deal with and the other resected in late September. Wait and watch for now.
Oops, another lung Met in upper left lobe on edge of previous resection scar 11/11/19.

Good news......not!

I could cry....I received a phone call to-day from my oncologist. My last blood work showed that my CEA is "slightly" elevated. I guess she looked
at my CT scan and it looked good so she didn't look at my blood work too closely. I have to go and get blood work done again at the end of July.
She was most encouraging on the phone and said that there are lots of things that will elevate CEA and the fact that I was recovering from a
winter filled with pneumonia, and bronchitis could be the cause.

So here I sit, I was so happy and excited looking forward to the long week-end holiday, and now I am so scared crying :cry:

I am so depressed... I am almost at the point of saying "screw it" I'm not going for anymore tests....I'll just take my chances.

I'm so sorry that aboout this. You shouldn't have to go through anymore, but it does seem that there is reason to be hopeful and I will be hopeful for you and wish you well.

I wish oncologist realized how upsetting their calls can be. Why cant they wait for Monday (probably to busy on Monday). I didn't see how much the CEA went up, but I hope it's because of pneumonia, and bronchitis !
