Wanted to share what I believe is good news!

Postby mlibertone » Wed Feb 06, 2013 4:35 pm

Got a great call today. Dad's records have been reviewed. Dr. Kemeny wants to see him! So, seems like next Wednesday we are off to MSK in New York City. My dad is so happy he is crying. We don't know what will happen but it's restored some hope here. Dad was about to start Regorafenib as kind of a last effort but, in the mean time we were trying for Sloan. Words can't express how I feel as dad will be going from being treated at a VA hospital for a year and a half to a top notch, cutting edge cancer center. I just wanted to say thank you to all who pointed me in that direction and encouraged us to keep trying. I hope we're on a good path here!

So scared, my sister will be the one traveling with my dad. I can't as I have a 3yr old and almost 14 yr old I'm here taking care of while my husband works. My dad does live with me though. I hope Dr. Kemeny can do something to help my dad. I don't think she would have said she wanted to see him if she didn't think she could. They just got his records yesterday bc we overnighted them to them and we got the call today. I'm not sure what time his appointment will be for. I'll let you know. Maybe you'll run into each other!

That is very good news! when I logged on, there were three posts in a row with good news. That seldom happens. Need to do that more often.

Well, regardless of who he is traveling with, I am so happy he is going there! As you know, my husband was/is in the same shoes as your father (except dh has disease outside the liver too) and has a new found hope now. He will have his first scan since starting the FUDR etc while he is out there and that will tell the tale. I sure hope that Dr.K decides that your dad is a good candidate for the pump!! I have everything crossed for him!!

Thank you Tammy and Dianne! We are excited! Right now we are just trying to figure stuff out so dad can stay out in NY for a day or two. Plus gathering the rest of the info that Dr. Kemeny needs.
So scared, I sent you a private message. Hope to hear from you soon!
