pants post ileostomy- first time shopping

I decided to just start a new subject instead of finding the old one

I went to kohls yesterday and did find some pants with out button/zippers. There were a few by Sag Harbor (they didn't have my size) and some by APT 9. I got 2 pair of black APT 9 pants, the are a spandex/nylon blend (not like a chino) with a tapered leg. They were comfortable. The test will be when I put them on for a "fashion show" and show my 15 year old daughter With a long shirt I am sure they will be fine.

Also, I have started positioning my bag diagonally across my stomach (as suggested by someone on line) instead of just straight down on my leg. This way it just looks like the typical belly pouch, not some weird buldge on one side. Some of my old pants actually looked ok with the bag in this position.

I've taken to wearing dresses. This seems to help prevent leaks. But I must cut a big circle in the stockings/hose so the bag can hang free. Glad you found some pants that work.

Stretch jeans worked for me. Helped make the bag look flatter. I already had some in different colors from Coldwater Creek. They are expensive but I had gotten mine through their outlet.
The older versions sit up a little higher not to the waist but not in line with the stoma. They also worked well for my weight fluctuations.

I was fortunate in that I lost weight from surgery so I was able to wear all my old dress pants. I had my reversal a few months ago and it was fun to go out and purchase clothes in smaller sizes. I was afraid with the reversal I would gain weight but my healthier eating plan has helped me keep the weight off so far. Although I have kept the larger size clothes Justi in case. It is not so much fun going out and buying a bigger size.

I don't have trouble with my clothes fitting but I do find more form fitting stuff shows that annoying bump. Scarves are my new best friends! I leave them long and they completely conceal the bump. Much cheaper than buying new clothes.

I have found it easier to wear elastic waist clothes, like Chico's. And I have several other elastic waist pants. I do have a pair of stretchy jeans that I LOVE too!
