Pelvic pain ---hernia?

Postby willtowin » Sun Nov 04, 2012 11:58 pm

Having some major pelvic pain all the sudden (all day) Of course, freaked out. Not ER bad, but will call dr if it persists. Curious about hernias . Anyone care to share if they had pain first? I'm hurting all below naval and intensely around c-section scar(3). No other symptoms, no constipation. I know you're not dr.s, just looking for insight.

I don't know if it's different for men, but my husband has had two hernias and never had any pain. I had a female friend with a hernia though and she had a sudden pain just like you describe.

I have a 4cm umbilicus hernia that came about after surgery. It has caused a lot of pain in discomfort in recent weeks. One of my issues is that there is parts of the bowel that are part of this hernia. My surgeon and I will talk next week about getting this taken care of now that I am finished with chemotherapy. If the pain persists get an abdominal binder to see if that will help ease the pain.

Going to the doc is a good idea. It could be adhesions from surgery or any number of relatively "benign" things. Let us know what you find out!
God bless ~

Hi,

Sorry you are having this pain. I have been having excruciating pain just below my navel on my c section scar..Its so bad I am in hospital. It actually feels like childbirth. I wrote a msg to edgellc on the top of the forum and i have explained it all to him as he is also experiencing pelvic pain so you can go and look on that thread. I would re write it all again but I'm dosed up on pain medication so I'm not with it at the moment. The dr's think i have a cluster of enlarged lymph nodes pressing on some nerves in my pelvis causing this pain..It started off aS a slight pain in lower back and has turned into excruciating pain along my c section down my groin and still lower back...... I can't eat, sleep or function with it unless i am on morphine but it took 3 weeks to get to this point it just slowly kept getting worst...... i HAVE STAGE 4 RECTAL CANCER WITH METS TO DISTANT LYMPH NODES. I am having radiation to shrink the nodes to try get me back to my normal self...

Hi: I have had two hernias. The first one was an incisional hernia at the site of the operation that removed my gallbladder, its tumour, and part of my liver. I got it after lifting something a bit too heavy about 4 months after the surgery. I wore an abdominal binder for 2 years. That hernia was fixed during recent for a perforated bowel. However, I now have a stoma hernia and that I got from wearing a binder with a hole cut in it - not a properly measured and made one like Nu-Hope's but one I created out of an old binder. Don't do it! And yes I felt pain when I stood up as the weight of the thing felt like it was dragging everything downwards and pulling. A hernia is part of the bowel that has penetrated through the abdominal sac or whatever it is called. It is not comfortable but a properly fitted binder sure helps!

Thanks everyone....It is still somewhat painful, better of a morning and better yet if wearing spanx. lol. I am giving it a week before I call the dr. on Monday to see if it could be just a pulled muscle/s. I seem to remember a little consitipation that may have had too much straining with. Not sure...But, I am going to live a few more days without knowing and worrying--hopefully. I have had an umbilical hernia before and this could feel similar to that but not umbilical. So, we will see. One thing this has shown me is even though we might feel far from cancer and recovery, it takes very little to bring it to the forefront of our minds.

I have to stay away from the board for my mental health but I hope you all know that my thoughts are with you as you go through the journey that cancer provides. What a special place we have here for support, knowledge, and family. I know if I were to begin posting regularly again today that same bond would be immediate. Thank you all...Love and peace. I'll keep you posted.

Yep. I had my hernia diagnosed with a CT. My surgeon felt fairly certain that what I was experiencing was a hernia, but he wouldnt confirm without a CT.

I had pain from mine, which I believed was caused by exercising too soon after my second abdominal surgery. I had just finished a light zumba routine and through the evening I had a pin pricking type sensation. It was pretty painful, but did not radiate or feel like it was inside my abdomen. Hard to really explain. That was about 10 months ago. I have not yet had it repaired and my surgeon is not in a hurry to do so at this time. I have some other decisions to make regarding a reversal. I dont have ongoing pain now. Some discomfort if I am on my feet all day long. Sometimes after sleeping on my back for a long period when I first get up I will have some pressure and discomfort. However, none of this really lasts. It is a mild nuisance and one I will gladly live with at this time.

Good luck and hoping for good results on your CT.
