Bill5107, Where Are You?

Postby fritts44 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 8:29 pm

Well, you're kinda like Car 57...if Car 57 was constantly backfiring and currently on a scratch & dent special :)

I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and hope you're feeling ok. I'm assuming you're not posting because you feel too lousy, and that makes me upset! I hope you will feel good enough soon to come on the board so that I have some of your funny stories to make me laugh -- because, you see, it's all about ME and what I need!

OK, I'll stop joking. I really do hope you feel better and we can enjoy your company soon!

Thanks for checking in on him guys. At the moment he's crashed on the couch. He seems to be recovering some from the radiation (I'm not pureeing everything anymore). On Friday he was feeling pretty good and even took our son out for lunch. Unfortunately since then he's been suffering from dizzy spells (his BP was very low on Monday 90/60). His blood platelets were too low on Monday to resume chemo. Current plan is to try again next week. Last night he had a really bad headache that came on while he was standing to take his meds. He actually made me get up because if it got much worse he was going to have me take him to ER. I'm hoping that stopping his BP and lasics (sp?) meds will help get the BP back to normal ranges and the head aches are just a side effect of his body adjusting to the changed meds. :?

Hi Lois

Thx for update. Tell Bill I was thinking about him the whole way from over here. There was an international gathering of girl guides (yes I know, v different to scouts) but I was reading about it & looking at the leaders and was thinking of Bill.

Take care

Yeah, I've been so wiped out I sometimes don't get far online other than a little here and there on FB and email

I do have lots of stories I thought I would write in my FB Notes, but honestly it's been such a miserable 5 weeks with some issue just dominating my energy and strength every day of every week, that I just have to yield. Ok. I don't. So I try to do what I can to get ready to work, for example, then my BP decides to go all mushy, to the point the nurse could not get a distinct diastalic vs systolic pressure on me. pftyftft!

NOthing I can do will let me function through that any more or less than my physiology will allow.

So I'm still in a holding pattern. I do appreciate the kind thoughts. I know I am mindful not to just keep coming on here and say "Hey guys! Bill5107 show is back for a minute - Here's how I am this week: Sucknitude level remains in the high 80% X-P" There really isn't much support-wise in either direction that can come from it other than the wonderful well-wishes which I still manage to get from folks here and on FB and my scouters. I don't really have energy to write a lot more anyway, though I do pick my support folks to work with. So don't worry about things from that side either. A lot of support does just happen in the background, that's one of the fringe benefits of being in such diverse groups as CC here.

Well. . . Time for a rest, my head is pumping up with pressure again, time to locate that steam valve again. X=P

Best wishes on bringing the conditions under effective treatment.

Do NOT stop the Lasix (furosemide) diuretic as an attempt to raise BP, without express concurrence of the prescribing doc.
True, it is used for patients with high BP, but that is to control the fluid build-up in the heart sac (pericardem) rather than to lower BP.

Ah yes...All by way of my Drs. lol! Actually it was a crap shoot which Dr was going to prescribe my Lasix. No-one was interested in doing it even though each thought it was a good idea.

The only reason I was on it was to perhaps start to address the annoying but I'm told harmless swelling in my groin and leg. I can finally almost pee "normal". I still can't say I'd try to use a urinal, but it's much cleaner and easier to toilet! I can't say it all makes 100% sense to me either, but it was a late comer to the party and it did mess with my electrolytes more than perhaps we acknowledged. . .

Unfortunately I was also having a very difficul time eating and drinking enough of the right foods at the same time, so I'm thinking the Lasix may well have been more complicating than helpful, and being in as much regular distress as I've been in, well, all I can do is keep the Drs informed of how I'm doing and work with them.

Today has been pretty even keel...ups and downs, nothing horrendous, but definitely nasty enough to keep me on my backside.

On the plus side, I'm eating my first whole appple in over a month!

how's that for living large!
